It goes without saying baby delivery is an important event which requires an appropriate level of safety. One of the most important tips to follow during the second birth stage is to stick to the nurse's guidance regarding correct pushing and resting. If the woman has already had few children she might not even need to push; the baby is likely to slide out easily.
It is necessary to start the story about pushing from saying that childbirth is a process including three stages. The first one ends with the full cervix dilation; the second one includes pushing and as a result baby delivery; the third stage means placenta delivery.
So, speaking about pushing description we should describe the peculiarities of the second childbirth stage. Very often the end of the first birth stage is characterized with a lull, the situation when contractions stop and both the woman and her baby have some time to rest for a while. This stage begins when the cervix is dilated up to ten centimeters. The second birth stage includes the woman's womb pushing the baby down the vagina into the world. Thus, the second stage starts when the contractions start again and the woman feels some degree of pressure of her baby's head (between the legs). Woman starts pushing.
It is evident that with every push made by woman her baby moves down through her pelvis a little bit. And in the end of each contraction the baby slips back again. On the whole the majority of women do not like the feeling of pushing. It is very important for the woman not to despair in such situation. It is normal. Remember that as long as the baby keeps on moving further, the woman is doing fine.
Pushing requires constant breath exercises and efforts to relax between the contractions. This is rather important but may appear to be difficult during baby delivery process. If it is possible, medical experts advice to change positions and choose the one in which the woman feels herself the most comfortable. At the same time it is necessary for every woman to urinate periodically.
Pushing is a stage which can lasts for about twenty minutes to even several hours. As a matter of fact the second childbirth stage length usually depends on both the woman's and baby's positioning, whether any medications and pain-relief options have been used and other factors. What else to expect during the pushing process? The contractions are likely to last about 45-95 seconds with approximately three to five minutes intervals between them. The majority of women feel natural urge to push and at the same time have strong pressure in the rectum. On the other hand, women experience stringing sensation and burning during the crowning; be aware that during such periods the women are advised to stop pushing.
What are the essential tips to be taken into consideration by women while pushing? First of all, it is necessary to relax the pelvic floor as well as anal canal. Remember to relax between the contractions and then use all the energy you have to keep on pushing. By the way many women use mirrors to see the progress of the baby delivery. It can be rather encouraging! On the whole, woman should listen to her body and use gravity.
It is clear that pushing always ends with the baby birth which is considered by the majority of women to be the most gratifying and thrilling experience ever had during the lifetime.
