Impotence (erectile dysfunction) is the constant inability to get or keep a firm erection sufficient for sexual contact. The word "impotence" sometimes is also used to define some problems that affect reproduction and coitus, such as absence of sexual desire and arousal and ejaculatory problems. When using the term "erectile dysfunction" we make it clear that other problems are not included. Impotence can be a complete inability to reach erection, an inconstant ability to do so, or a tendency to sustain it only for small periods of time, not enough for having full encounters.
