For this reason, nutritionists believe that vegetarians suffer from lack of numerous health benefits offered by meat. They include an outstandingly lower risk of heart diseases, stroke, renal failure or cancer. One of the largest organizations of nutrition professional is called The American Dietetic Association, which states that vegetarian main dishes still offer a considerable number of nutritional benefits such as lower levels of cholesterol, saturated fat and animal protein. On the other hand, vegetarian meals are considered to provide people with higher levels of fiber, carbohydrates, foliate, potassium, magnesium and various antioxidants including phytochemicals, vitamins C and E. Nowadays, vegetarian main dishes are quite variable and include a wide number of meals, for example, vegetarian sandwiches, vegetarian cheese dishes, potato pancakes, lasagna, various soups, etc. One of the most famous vegetarian main dishes is Terong balado known as Indonesian baked eggplant soaked in a special chili sauce. Much attention should also be paid to the famous vegetarian lasagna - vegetarian main dish made from vegetables with spinach, corn and mushrooms. Vegetarian soups are quite popular among both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. One of the most popular vegetarian soups is spicy lentil soup, which is rather simple for cooking and includes tomatoes, lentils and hot pepper. All of them are pretty nutritious and beneficial for many people, particularly the ones who are trying to loose weight. It's worthy admitting that vegetarians seem to have a lower risk of obesity. According to the recent studies in the field of vegetarianism and its advantages, vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass comparing with non-vegetarians. At the same time, vegetarians have lower rates of deaths caused by ischemic heart disease; they show lower levels of cholesterol and lower blood pressure and hypertension.
