Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - PCOS Symptoms and Their Affect on Fertility

Added: 12/09/2005

Every woman should know the pcos symptoms in order to recognize it in order to have the possibility for the better treatment in early stage. The Polycystic ovary syndrome may be the main reason for women's menstrual irregularities and as a result of it - impaired fertility. The main way to avoid it is to define the right diagnosis properly, exactly and right in time. The symptoms of the disease may appear even during teen age years and they should be treated when noticed.

Being well-informed about pcos symptoms means any woman will have a chance to avoid menstrual irregularities; and as a result of it -- impaired fertility, during which ovary doesn't release the ovule. It is almost impossible to define the diagnosis by only one symptom or method. Sometimes the Polycystic ovary syndrome may be defined erroneously under the Ultrasonic Rays.

The Ultrasonic Rays picture of the Syndrome may be normal during other illnesses. To pinpoint the right diagnosis all the results should be compared with the other kinds of diagnostics: clinical and hormonal. First of all, an unregulated menstrual cycle and long menstruation delays should alert any woman. During the Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) menstrual irregularities are very often met (delays more often), and half of the patients usually experience an increase in their weight.

Under the Basal temperature-changes it remains unchangeable during all the cycle and doesn't increase in its second half, as usually. The pcos symptoms may appear even during teen age, after the first menstruation cycles. So, what should any woman notice if she suspects that she has some of the pcos symptoms?

First of all, an irregular menstrual cycle and long-term delays should alert any woman. This is the main point of the pcos symptoms. If the ovule isn't matured then the mucous membrane isn't matured either. Menstruation cannot occur for a month or two. But there are even cases when menstruation was interrupted for nearly 6 months.

During the normal function of the ovaries; a girl may not take into account such delays. At the same time she may suffer from the spots on the skin, oily skin and hair, but all the pcos symptoms could be easily approved due to late maturation. But if time passes and the problems don't disappear, then your body is sending you a signal. Then suddenly without any reasons the weight may increase to 8-10 kilos, the odd hair appears on your chin or back. The condition of the skin changes and is characterized by the expressed excess of hair on the face, around nipples, white line of the belly, inside part of the hip, breast and back.

Sometimes women have painful feelings in the low part of the belly. The menstruations may be also painful. But as a rule sharp and strong cramps don't appear. Sometimes PCOS causes the moth blood-lettings, with the long term of the illness it may cause the endometrial moth's body or (by some data) breast cancer. That's why all women with the Polycystic ovary syndrome should be prescribed the periodical courses of the hormonal preparations for the prevention of the disease, beginning even in the teenage years. The last and the worst way of the pcos treatment is surgical operation. Though it is the most effective way, it has temporary effect, which lasts no longer than a year.

Unfortunately, there is a false opinion that the treatment should start after the marriage, though the late PCOS treatment can make matters worse and would make successful treatment more difficult. That's why the best advice in this situation (even for the young ladies) is to go to the doctor in case the symptoms described herein appear.
