Permanent hair color products produce a long-lasting effect

Added: 02/03/2006

Hair coloring products generally fall into four categories: temporary, semipermanent, deposit only/demi, and permanent. The variety of permanent hair color products available today, enable all those who wish to render their hair the look they want and to make it stay put. On the contrary, for those, who are not ready to settle for some particular color and are willing to experiment there exist products like lights shampoo and cream and powder lightener.

All the hair you'll ever have on your head is determined at birth. That's because hair grows from a root in your scalp and the number of roots cannot be changed. Each hair grows from the root to a certain length depending on your unique genetic makeup, then slows down, then stops naturally. At some point, it'll die and be shed. You lose about 100 hairs every day from this life cycle. The lost hair will be replaced by a new-growth shaft. There are many different types of hair salons that one can choose to go to for permanent hair color products treatment. There are the traditional walk-in salons where you do not have to make an appointment, rather you just walk in a wait for the next available hairdresser. Another option is to call a full-service hair salon and make an appointment with a stylist of your choice. Some hair salons specialized in certin areas such a coloring by cream and powder lightener, up-dos for formal occasions using lights shampoo, cutting or styling. Which salon one chooses will determine the level of expertise being performed for the service. Hair coloring products fall into: temporary, semipermanent, deposit only/demi, and permanent categories. All these hair color products, except for temporary color, require a patch test before application to determine if the client is allergic to the product. "Hair lightening," often referred to as "bleaching" or "decolorizing," is a chemical process involving the diffusion of the natural color pigment or cream and powder lightener, artificial color from the hair. This process is central to both permanent hair color, hair lighteners and permanent hair color products as well as lights shampoo application. All permanent hair color products and lighteners, like cream and powder lightener, contain both a developer, or oxidizing agent, and an alkalizing ingredient as part of their ammonia or an ammonia substitute. The purpose of this is to raise the cuticle of the hair fiber so the tint can penetrate, facilitate the formation of tints within the hair fiber, bring about the lightening action of peroxide. When the tint containing the alkalizing ingredient is combined with the developer (usually hydrogen peroxide), the peroxide becomes alkaline and diffuses, or breaks up, through the hair fiber, entering the cortex, where the melanin is located. The lightening occurs when the alkaline peroxide breaks up the melanin and replaces it with new color. Permanent. This is mixed with developer and remains in the hair shaft until new growth of hair occurs. It's used to match, lighten, and cover gray hair. Permanent hair color products generally contains ammonia, oxidative tints, and peroxide. The allergic reaction that comes from hair dye is generally one of sensitization to p-phenylenediamine (PPD). The reaction will most likely occur each time one dyes one's hair and will probably get worse each time. The sensitization from the ingredients in hair color can extend to sensitization of other products of same or similar composition, including but not limited to the dye used in textiles, sunscreen, rubber, and/or certain medications. In this case permanent hair color products are very helpful and they can be referred to as an efficient way of bringing a positive change to one's appearance with the guarantee of a long-lasting effect. You need to keep in mind that hair color products especially those that are oriented for a permanent effect, can have a harmful effect on your hair, unless we are talking about exclusively natural products. The market of related hair treatment products like lights shampoo and cream and powder lightener is gradually widening.
