Jeff Johnson found out all he needed to know based on contact information from sportsmen everywhere. He presented his models and the public was pleased. So Jeff went ahead and offered them the new, improved models. Soon after Jeff Johnson's arrival, they open the first shop in Santa Monica, the state of California. In 1968, Bill Bauerman represented for the first time Nike outerwear made out of shock absorbing yet lightweight materials.
Already in the beginning of the 1970's, the years the company BRS earned more money that it ever dreamed - from $8000 in 1965 up to $1.32 million. In consequence, they suggested to redeem a part of BRS and to receive the additional income, or to raise it's prices.
By this time, Fill Knight had already received credits from the company Nisho Ivai and they were not interested any more in the conditions with Onitsuka Tajger. The company BRS decided to begin its own manufacture. They had the capital already; there was so-called know-how and the factories.
The debut of Nike outerwear took place at the Olympic gathering of the team from the United States, shortly before the Olympic games of 1972. The company received the name by the name of the Greek goddess of victory. In 1972, Bill Bauerman dropped a piece of rubber in a waffle iron of his wife. In consequence of that the wafer sole appeared! It is the best until now and the most universal for racing footwear.
Since 1978, the company receives a new trademark for Nike outerwear. In 1979, NIKE begins a batch production of Nike outerwear. The first pre-production models appeared in 1972. Founders and designers initially were Fill Knight and his wife. The same year NIKE makes the first amortization pillow AIR.
It all began when Frank Rudi knocked on the doors of the company NIKE. It was in 1977.
Frank Rudi tried to develop footwear which would be very easy, stable, and possess excellent bounce. In addition, it was just footwear with an air pillow. Later, this development put forward NIKE on the first place on manufacture of footwear.
In 1980, NIKE becomes joint-stock company. The same year the company gets in crisis, because of a wrong choice of marketing strategy. Still then, the management of the company had to choose if they should go on sports or on the way that is more fashionable. The choice was given to the second variant and the plenty of Nike rain coats and Nike sweaters remained unsold.
The buyers loved NIKE more as the sports company, and not as a producer of Nike rain coats and Nike sweaters.
In 1985, NIKE signed the contract with the young basketball player Michael Jordan. Today the company has the lifelong contract with the star of NBA. In 1987, there was the debut of the first AIR MAX, for the first time the buyer could see the pillow AIR. NIKE finally works over the crisis, and again starts to grow. Since 1991 NIKE has become the unique company in the world, whose revenues exceed 3 billion dollars. Since 1996, the management of NIKE has decided, that the company is already well known enough. In 1997, NIKE begins manufacture of watches and glasses.
In1992, Andre Gassy wins Wimbledon. Six of supported NIKE basketball superstars result in the gold of Olympic basketball tournament.
