NFL is the National Football League, which is considered to be the greatest professional football league in the United States. The National Football League consists of thirty-two teams from different regions and cities of the United States.
NFL was formed at the beginning of twentieth century (in 1920) and was called APFA (the American Professional Football Association) which got the "National Football League" name two years later. After the 1958 Championship Game of National Football League (which decided in overtime), the greatest spurt of National Football League in popularity was in the middle of the twentieth century (from 1960 till 1975) after the union with its rival - AFL (American Football League).
As a matter of fact, nowadays thirty two teams of the league are separated into two main conferences: NFC (the National Football Conference) and AFC (the American Football Conference). Further both conferences are separated into four divisions and each division includes four teams. You may know that the mentioned divisions are labeled West, East, South, and North; there are no geographic boundaries rules and the teams do not consistently follow that issue because National Football League wanted to hold certain rivalries unbroken.
One of the NFL games peculiarities requiring attention is the fact that during NFL seasons, which are called "regular", each team competes in sixteen matches over a period of seventeen weeks (the events usually take their place from September to January). At each regular season end, the best teams (as a rule there are six of them) from each conference compete in NFL games with playoff rules. It is considered to be the single-elimination tournament with twelve teams which are crown with the Super Bowl, NFL champioships.
It's necessary to admit that in the final season standings NFL games use a special set of rules to break ties that rule concerns those teams having equal won-lost-tied record during regular season. The rival team is determined during the following season in two of their games. The rules of tie breaking are also applied to help decide the team-order for the for playoff matches and certain order of NFL draft.
It's very interesting that the minimum NFL player salary is $235,000 during his first year. $10,000 is the minimum for an exhibition game. The salaries of the National Football League players grow every year and this question is very important and complex.
