The brain of a human is complex and even modern research works cannot investigate it completely. The whole state of our body depends on nervous system and our consciousness, our feelings and emotions.
According to the modern researches of the brain it is considered that there are special mechanisms that make the brain work. But no scientist knows certainly how exactly the brain works. The brain is known to fulfill special functions transmitting nerve impulses from one cell to another. Neurotransmitters are molecules of the chemical agents that stimulate or suppress the impulse transmitting to the next neuron. They transmit this information through the space between neurons. Moreover, a nervous cell can reduce the number of receptors to the neurotransmitter and the sensitivity of this molecule goes down. This process is called "down regulation".
There are more than sixty neurotransmitters that exist. The functions of different neurotransmitters are various. They influence the total state of an individual in general. Some of them cause anger, irritation, others - pleasure and happiness.
Neurotranmetter dopamine takes part in regulation of emotions and mood, contributes to appearing of pleasurable feelings, controls the cardiovascular system, and is responsible for positive feelings towards other people, it causes the feeling of satisfaction.
A relatively small amount of neurotranmetter dopamine gives emotional comfort, positive tonus, and merriment. The lack of dopamine in the body causes bad moods, flaccidity, languor, and interest for the life disappears. With an abundance of dopamine in our body we feel insomnia, anxiety, and irritability. That is why it is very important to have the dopamine system in balance.
If enough neurotranmetter dopamine is produced, our neuro-chemical balance is normal. If the balance is upset, the individual endeavors to restore it and sometimes not in the right way, because the loss of neurotransmitters should be compensated. For example, it may be using alcohol, drugs and some other psycho-active substances. After this our brain cannot produce enough dopamine required that is why the physiological tolerance develops, people become addicted and cannot feel natural positive emotions and feelings without taking a drug.
The natural mechanism of creating neurotransmitters stops working and it is too hard to recover. For some people the way of restoring the balance can be sport, sex, gambling, hard labor, and so on. In any case the brain creates some chemical reactions, but this is not natural because they depend on unnatural stimulators.
It is very important to be disposed to positive emotions, because an out-of-balance condition may lead to serious problems in mental and physical activity of our body. Positive feelings will help to create new neurotranmetter dopamine that is lost and thus will improve the general state of the body, to make us happy. But you should not escape with the help of psycho-active agents that destroy but not benefit. It is much effective to indulge in sports or creative work because everything that is unnatural blights and does harm.
