Medical nail polish should be used cautiously

Added: 01/30/2006

The condition of the whole organism has a direct impact on nails condition. In many cases, cosmetologists recommend to apply medical nail polish. Medical nail polish can be an effective remedy for unhealthy nails. It can help make nails stronger, stop nail biting and prevent them from chipping and cracking. However, medical nail polish application should be done with great care to avoid certain medical problems.

From the biology course, we know that nails play a protective role for fingers. 95% of nails consist of keratin (this is a special protein similar to hair) as well as calcium, lipids, and water. The root of the nail is concealed on the invisible part of a finger, which is responsible for nourishing and growing. Usually, nails grow approximately at 0.5 cm per week. Healthy nails have smooth surface; they do not chip and do not get broken.

It is extremely important to provide adequate care for nails and hands. People pay attention to nails during talks, negotiations, and casual meetings. Hands are seen by whoever you are meeting with. They fulfill a number of important functions in our daily activities. Under the influence of external factors, however, nails condition seriously deteriorates. They become very dry and finally get cracked. To avoid such problems, women should consider buying from cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies, offering a great variety of health care products, a simple remedy - medical nail polish. Medical nail polish was specifically created to help women stop nail biting and make nail stronger. Different medical nail polishes are designed to solve different nail problems.

Dry and brittle nails require wetting agents that will nourish nails and increase the moisture level. Thus, the medical nail polish should contain vitamins A and E, provitamin B5, soybean, and wheat proteins that will stop dehydration and recover nails. It is also recommended to wash hands with liquid soap or shower gel, as they prevent nails and skin from dryness.

Chipping nails can be treated with medical nail polish that contains protein, gelatin, calcium, and provitamin B5. These substances improve the nail layers and prevent the nail plate cracking.

If nails are thin and brittle, they need more calcium to get stronger. Vitamin C and organic oils can help strengthen nails and recover the natural keratin synthesis - the major nails substance.

Base coats designed to cover nails before the nail polish is applied are extensively used as a medical nail polish. They prevent nails from yellowing. The secret is that the coat does not let the polish color pigment penetrate into the nail surface. Base coat is intended to give nails natural elasticity. However, to achieve best results, it is recommended to apply base coat regularly.

Medical nail polish is not a cure-all, though. On the contrary, applying medical nail polish should be done with caution. Beware that the surplus of the calcium is no less dangerous than calcium deficiency. If the cosmetologist maintains that you have healthy nails, try to avoid any medical remedies. Healthy nails can also be the result of a healthy diet. Your food allowance should contain fruits and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, whatever else having vitamins A and D. Also, importantly, one should massage nails on a regular basis. This simple procedure will stimulate blood circulation and generally make your hands and nails very strong and very healthy.
