The most complex and precise optical systems are built in medical cameras of endoscopes. Nowadays endoscopy is one of the most effective and accurate methods of diagnosis. Especially when it concerns gastrointestinal diseases. Technical characteristics of modern medical endoscopes include resolution of optical systems, flexibility and elasticity. Different accessories make it possible to observe the majority of organs in details -- from the mucous or serous coat in spite of its complex structure, to the topography and definition of different changes in their form, color, condition when viewing a hemorrhage, tumors, etc. When the medical cameras are equipped with enlarging optical systems and the doctor uses also vital color means the accuracy of diagnosis raises.
Today we can observe the expansion of teleendoscopy as a part of telemedicine. The thing is that the citizens of backcountry areas do not have any possibility to visit the doctor who is specialized in endoscopy. In this case the image is sent to the specialist who gives his recommendations and helps to diagnose. In this case the quality of image and technical characteristics of medical cameras are very important.
Medical cameras are also used in endoscopic surgery when the surgeon makes only two small incisions. The surgical instruments are introduced through the first incision and the small medical camera is introduced through the second one. The camera is fixed on the flexible wire. It allows us to observe the internal and the process of operation. The picture is displayed in the monitor. It is also possible to record the process of operation in details to analyze it afterwards. This method of operation is wide spread nowadays thanks to its effectiveness and bloodless. The patient takes it easier and the recovery period is more effective and not long.
In general medical cameras are widely used in the majority of modern diagnostic methods e.g. X-ray, fluorography or photoroentgenography, thermography or thermo-vision.
Thermo-vision is a representation of space-time characteristics of any object in infrared light. This method of organism investigation gives much information. A body generates heat at the level of cell. Surely the heating system of human body is complex but it is possible to see the areas of abnormal temperature with the help of thermo-vision cameras. Usually the abnormal temperature means that something is wrong with that area or organ.
The experience of investigation by thermo-vision cameras shows that the thermo-vision diagnosis is very effective, harmless and painless method of early diagnosis. Especially it concerns vascular disorders and oncological diseases. It makes possible to prevent surgical intervention and effectively perform a medication or other treatments.
So, every new technical and engineering development that can improve the quality and accuracy of image or optical system of medical cameras becomes the next step for more effective diagnosis or improves the medical service in general.
