There are several male breast reduction reasons. The most common of them are embarrassment from the large breast size, and the concern about malignant changes in the breast tissue. There are two groups of men prone to the condition of gynecomastia. They are young boys and men over 50. The latter are singled out by surgeons as the best male breast reduction candidates.
The condition defined as the enlargement of breast in men is called gynecomastia. It develops in two groups of men. The first group is represented by young boys undergoing the period of puberty. In this group breast enlargement does not need any treatment and naturally disappears. As for the second group, it is represented by men aged over 50. In this group the condition cannot be solved without treatment. So, the men of this age suffering from gynecomastia are the best male breast reduction candidates. Traditionally, it is very difficult, almost impossible to identify the reasons of breast enlargement in men. It is often characterized as a non-specific change in breasts. Sometimes male breast reduction reasons are rather specific. They are caused by testicular or thyroid problems, liver disease and drugs such as steroids, digitalis and marijuana. One of the male breast reduction reasons is obesity. In such cases it is weight loss that may be helpful.
There are two types of the condition that can develop. The first type is described as the formation of a firm tissue button beneath the nipple. Breast cancer occurs rather rarely in men. Only 0.5% of all patients having breast cancer are men. If a breast cancer develops in man, it is traditionally situated in the outer part of the breast. This condition is different from gynecomastia where the mass traditionally diffuses or locates in the center. If the breast tissue is distinguished as abnormal, mammograms are required. Biopsy is used when there is some doubt.
Usually, excessive breast tissue is not removed in young boys because it comes and goes naturally. There are some surgeons who refuse operate obese men and advise they should do exercises and sit on a diet to have an opportunity to see how much of the tissue can be rid of without the surgery. Marijuana and drinking are among the most common reasons for gynecomastia. So, a healthy life-style is the cornerstone of a sculptured body shape.
