Speaking about the major interior design organizations, it is possible to single out such an organization as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The organization has a so called Student Chapter, which has been created for those students who have chosen interior design either as a minor or a major area of study. It is a kind of club. The meetings of the club are held every month. The activities of the club include meetings with different guests, holding some special events, such as Spring Show and Alumni Day, community and fundraising service projects as well as networking with students from all over the world who have the similar career and academic interests.
Spring Show is a kind of a festival, which is traditionally held every March or April. The festival includes the exhibition of works created by students from different courses. It is necessary to say that both ASID members and non-members are able to take part in the competition and to submit their works to the show. All the projects submitted to the show are classified into some categories according to common features and project types. The professionals assess the works participants.
The winners of the first, second and third places are awarded in each category. They receive victory ribbons. There are also such awards as Best of Show and Honorable Mention, which are given to the most remarkable projects of the whole show. The participants of Spring Show have a nice opportunity to invite their families and friends to watch their accomplishments.
The student chapter of ASID considered to be one of the major interior design organizations is to provide its students with the best knowledge as well as providing them with valuable professional practical pieces of advice. For this purpose the organization holds monthly meetings of the students with different professionals in the area of interior design. For example, this foundation for interior designers education has the experience of inviting specialists who tell the students about ethics and licensing in the profession, the basis of the tile industry and healthcare design.
Speaking about other major interior design organizations, I can't but mention such organizations as the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). It is a professional educational and networking association that functions in over 30 chapters, 9 regions and 8 specialty forums all over the world. It is aimed at improving the life quality with the help of the excellence of the interior design; and advancing the interior design by means of the expanded knowledge.
Texas Association for Interior Design (TAID) is also considered to be one of the major interior design organizations. This association is engaged in legislative aspects and business of the interior design in Texas. It is aimed at promoting common interests of this industry involving the governmental assistance and at providing education and information to its members.
