The variety of lipstick types and ingredients is tremendous

Added: 01/12/2006

Lipstick is a cosmetic substance for the lips that is richer in color and texture than lip gloss and has the primary purpose of applying color to the lips. The multitude of lipstick types and ingredients is next to impossible to test to see which suits you best. Shimmers or frosted lipstick ingredients are certainly quite different from mattes and longlasting lipstick ingredients and they account for the charm of each of them.

Most lipstick types and ingredients are red or reddish, which has the effect of simulating the appearance of sexual arousal, which naturally increases blood flow and reddens the lips in fair-skinned people, and hence making the wearer appear more sexually attractive. With modern shommers or frosted lipstick ingredients, however, lipstick is available in practically any colour or shade. A typical lipstick contains mattes and longlasting lipstick ingredients, principally pigments, oils, waxes, and emollients. Perfume and/or flavoring may be added to cover the odors and tastes of the other ingredients. Lipstick does not have a particular origin. It was used around 5,000 years ago in ancient Babylon, when semi-precious jewels were crushed and applied to the lips and sometimes around the eyes. Ancient Egyptians extracted purplish-red dye from mercuric plants, which resulted in serious illness. Cleopatra had her lipstick types and ingredients made from crushed carmine beetles, which gave a deep red pigment, and ants for a base. Shimmers or frosted lipstick ingredients were initially made using a substance found in fish scales called pearlescence. It was also forbidden to wear makeup before marriage, lest the woman tricks her husband into thinking she was beautiful, only to discover she was not. Lipstick began gaining popularity during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, who made blood red lips and stark white faces a fashion statement. Mattes and longlasting lipstick ingradients were a blend of beeswax and red stains from plants by that time. During WWII, lipstick types and ingredients gained respect by the movie industry, when it became a duty for female citizens to "put their face on". In the 1930s, leaders in the industry such as Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden opened their first beauty parlors, offering services that ranged from facial massages to hair dressing to makeup tips. Variety of waxes, oils, pigments, and emollients are shimmers or frostered lipstick ingredients. The wax gives lipstick its shape and ease of application. Among the waxes are beeswax, a substance obtained from bee honeycombs that consists of esters of straight-chain monohydric alcohols with even-numbered carbon chains from C24 to C36 and straight-chain acids also having even numbers of carbon atoms up to C36. Other waxes include carnauba wax, which is an exudate from the pores of leaves of Brazilian wax palm trees, and candelilla wax, which is obtained from the candelilla plant and is produced in Mexico by immersing the plants in boiling water containing sulfuric acid and skimming off the wax that rises to the surface. Mattes and longlasting lipstick ingredients include olive oil, mineral oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, lanolin, and petrolatum. More than 50% of lipstick types and ingredients manufactured in the U.S. contain substantial amounts of castor oil. If we consider specifically lip makeup for example, the array of lipstick types and ingredients is truly amazing, which actually makes it very challenging for every woman to choose a specific one. For the manufacturers of lip makeup it is of great importance to assure that both shimmers or frosted lipstick ingredients and mattes and longlasting lipstick ingredients are of the best quality and are apt to meet all the requirements of the consumer market. As far as lipstick types are concerned there are certain qualities that they are required to possess, namely the ability to smooth the surface of the lips, making them look soft and tender. When considering new lip makeup line, it seems reasonable to look into other products, that may prove to be a good company for specific lipstick types and ingredients.
