Laser procedure is represented by applying intense heat or light which travel in one direction. The laser beam can perform various operations. For example, it can vaporize, cut and seal skin tissue or blood vessels. One of the most important peculiarities of laser is that it is able to produce one specific wavelength, which can vary in pulse duration and intensity.
Laser procedure lies in directing the laser beam at the skin tissue. The light energy of the beam is absorbed by the pigments of water that are found in the skin. It is worthy of note that water is found in all living cells. As for the skin pigments, there are two kinds of them. The first one is hemoglobin which makes blood red. The second pigment is melanin which is also called the tan or the brown pigment.
Laser procedure has a number of advantages. Laser procedure demonstrates improved therapeutic results, reduces infection risks, and provides bloodless surgery, which is a good alternative to scalpel surgery, leaves fewer scars, can be used to cure several skin conditions.
It is worthy of note that the efficiency of the laser procedure, the work of which is based on applying intense heat or light, much depends on the laser instruments and tools. There are a lot of types of lasers that may be used for different skin conditions, growths and birthmarks, cosmetic complaints. Today no single laser is able to cure a skin condition single handedly. That is why before starting the laser procedure the dermatologic surgeon studies your case thoroughly and suggests that a certain laser system, which would be the most effective, be used.
Laser procedure can be performed by skin care specialists who are experienced in the laser surgery.
Speaking about the lasers which are widely spread in laser surgery, a carbon dioxide laser should be mentioned. The carbon dioxide procedure can be used for several purposes. The first function is to escape bleeding while skin cutting. The second one is focused on extremely vaporizing skin. And the last use of this system is ultra pulsed for changing the surface of the face. This kind of laser systems is used for resurfacing skin for cosmetic purposes. The procedure is able to remove wrinkles and facial fine lines, to smooth scars caused by acnes, to rejuvenate sun-damaged and aging skin.
Among the other advantages of a carbon dioxide laser are the ability to cure shallow tumors, warts and some precancerous conditions.
So, a CO2 laser method can cut skin tissue. It may be applied for removing cancer, curing a number of pigmented lesions, for cosmetic operations correcting eyelids.
Another type of lasers is an erbium laser. YAG is another name of the laser. The energy produced by erbium laser is able to penetrate the skin, is easily absorbed by water, spreading the laser heat. These properties of the erbium laser help surgeons remove a thin layer of sun-damaged and aged skin tissue accurately and to avoid damaging the surrounding layers of healthy skin tissue. A YAG laser is usually used for skin resurfacing. It is good at improving moderate wrinkles on the face, mild scars or splotchy discolorations.
Today laser technology is widely used for hair removal which is considered to be rather efficient and long-lasting. The laser energy damages the hair follicle and stunts hair growth.
One of the most important usages of laser technology is curing visible facial veins. Due to the latest laser technologies, it is possible to cure leg veins as well.
