Epilators can give you similar results with less painful sensations, because they work like electrical tweezers, removing hair with roots.
Besides all the above said techniques, there are also methods that give permanent results. Most of these methods are pretty complicated and, thus, have to be performed in hair removal clinics. One of such methods is laser hair removal treatment. This method lies in a laser light being used and hair follicles being affected by this light; as long as the energy of light is high, follicle damage is also significant. With just a single procedure of laser hair removal treatment hair growth can be stopped completely. But laser hair removal equipment is very expensive, because it has a powerful laser and a special control system. All this makes prices on laser hair removal treatment very high. Not everybody can afford such an expensive procedure.
But, on the other hand, laser hair removal treatment gives permanent results, so you need to pay only once. Thinking how much money you can spend on waxing or shaving within a couple of years, the sum spent on laser hair removal won't seem to be that high.
Another method which gives permanent result is electrolysis hair removal. To remove hair by this technique a special silver electrode is inserted into hair follicle to transmit electrical current through it. As well as in laser hair removal treatment, this kills hair follicle and stops hair growth. But this method takes more efforts, because each hair should be treated separately. This method has been used for more than ten years now and even home electrolysis devices are available today. But they, of course, are simpler than professional models used in hair removal centers and the result is not so great. Sometimes you need to use home electrolysis machines several times to stop hair growth.
