Kylie Ann Minogue was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. When Kylie turned eleven she featured in a couple of soap operas such as "Neighbors" (1980). "Neighbors" was quite popular in Great Britain and in 1987 it hit the biggest rating on television. In 1987, Kylie Minogue signs a recording contract with Mushroom Records. The first single was borrowed from "Neighbors" and was titled "Locomotion". Right away it took the front ranks in Australian music charts and was very successful resulting in Kylie`s arrival to London where she started working with Stock, Aitken & Waterman.
At very first sight they didn't pay due attention to the starlet and forgot about her on next day. In order to check her talents they wrote a song for her to perform "I Should Be So Lucky". Kylie`s performance impressed them and Stock, Aitken & Waterman decided to release her first album of dance songs. The album soon became number one in British dance charts and amounted to seven million copies sold worldwide. In the United States Kylie`s first album passed unnoticed however re-release of "Locomotion" was ranked number three in Billboard charts.
Next year Kylie Minogue leaves Neighbors to build her music career. In 1989, Kylie performs a duet song with Jason Donovan "Especially for you" and hits success in the United Kingdom again. After this her popularity began to decline in late 1990 resulting in breach with Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1992. For the next few years Kylie attempts to act as an independent singer and songwriter trying to distance from her earlier works.
However, Kylie`s albums continued to decline in sales until 2000 when she returns her popularity by performing as a dance pop artist. Much was brought by her sometimes provocative music videos and expensive, well-directed stage shows. Kylie Minogue is the most recognizable female Australian pop singer in our time and she is one of the best running such a long career in show business.
Another popular female Australian pop singer is Natalie Imbruglia. Natalie was born in 1975 and was one of four daughters in the family. Her childhood passed in Sydney on the Central Coast. Just like Kylie Minogue, Natalie played a part in "Neighbors" before starting her singing career. Natalie's first single titled "Torn" was released in 1997 and was ranked number two in British charts.
The next album of hers led to more than million copies sold worldwide. In 1999, Natalie Imbruglia cooperates with Tom Jones featuring in a track of Jones` "Reload" album. However, Natalie's acting career was not over - she appeared in a supporting role in "Johnny English" with Rowan Atkinson. In 2005, her third album "Counting Down The Days" was released and reached number one in British music charts.
The first single "Shiver" appears to be the most successful after her debut "Torn" and hit the top in the UK charts, too. The second single titled "Counting Down The Days" was also popular. Presently Natalie Imbruglia is a popular female Australian pop singer and continues her career successfully. Kylie Minogue and Natalie Imbruglia are an excellent example of a female Australian pop singer.
