Head Lice Description - Not A Childish Problem

Added: 03/09/2006

For some reason lice infestation mostly happens to children. We guess it is so because often children are not so much concerned about class distinction and can easily make friends with children from disadvantaged families. May be you should not prevent your children from making such friends, but you should know head lice description.

Unfortunately not all people in the world are able to live a high-quality life. There are lots of reasons why it happens: some people are lazy and don't work to improve their life conditions, others have some special ideas that material conditions of our life are not important, and some people just happen to live such an unfortunate life because they lack the help they need. We will not get too deep into the problem, but we just want to say that such people are still people and we should not be afraid to communicate them with and to respect them at least. The challenging thing is that in most cases such people suffer from lice infestation and you can get infected as well. That is why we need to know head lice description.

We may begin our head lice description from the fact that lice are a parasitic insect. Their organs are quite complicated mechanisms, that allows them to make a little cut, to "drink" blood without letting it coagulate, and to hold on to a hair quite steadily. It is also quite an interesting thing in the head lice description that these insects do not have any kind of eyes, but they have great sense of smell and they "recognize" the most delicious person. Moreover if you remove a louse from a person, it will come back exactly to him or her - such a tender affection.

But surely the most important thing in head lice description is that these insects are carrier of diseases. For example, various kinds of typhus, such as, spotted fever and relapsing fever can be transferred by a louse from a man who has this disease to a person who was healthy before that.

Before the only way to cure lice infestation was to shave the head - so lice had no place to cover and to hide and they had to leave "the territory". But such a method of treatment had a big disadvantage - the aesthetic side of the question - whether to shave or not to shave. Nowadays such a problem is not a problem at all. One can apply special shampoos for some time to get rid of the lice and there is no need in shaving.

If they begin the treatment quite soon then there is mostly no risk for an infected person, but still there were cases when children were quite close to septicaemia because of the great amount of lice and small bites they made.

So pay attention to yourself and your children - the first symptom is itching and the sense that someone is constantly biting you. As in any other case concerning health problems, do not try to diagnose your loved one on your own, or treat him or her on your own. You should visit a doctor and ask him or her for advice. Only a doctor can tell you for sure what the problem you have faced is and what the solution is. It is a good idea for each member of your family to visit a doctor (and the doctor surely will tell you about it if he or she diagnoses head lice infestation). Just to make sure that everyone in your family is healthy, otherwise there is no reason for everyone to go.

Surely, lice infestation mostly happens to people from disadvantaged families, but an ordinary person can also suffer from it, but remember there is nothing to be ashamed of!
