Textile products everywhere, industrial fiber uses numerous

Added: 10/12/2005

Natural fibers history has witnessed a long way of the textile industry development. Weaving techniques were invented in profusion. But with the invention of the synthetic fibers these technologies received a new impetus of development. And today the number of industrial fiber uses is just enormous. There are optical fibers to transmit information, and the use of similar fibers in medicine is also very wide.

The history of fabric making craft is a long-standing one. People have been making various sorts of clothing, carpets and rugs for a very long time. During that long period of development of different methods of fabric weaving natural fibers were used. At first, the world took advantage of most vegetable fibers. Then people learned to make fibers suitable for weaving from animals' coat. They also discovered a way to give fabric the properties of different fibers, that's when a blending method (when two or more different fibers are intertwined together to form a single fiber) came into use. Further development of the blending method allowed producing extremely strong and durable fabrics. At the same time with this technique very beautiful decorative fabrics were made. Although fabric weaving was spread all over the world the most known production centers were concentrated in Asian region. Still Persian and Oriental rugs and fabrics are considered to be the most priced. There are even guilds of collectors that are looking for different samples of eastern fabrics and rugs weaving craft. And they are ready to pay a fortune for oriental hand-made carpets. However, in the late 19th century chemists developed a new way of making fibers out of cellulose. Special solvents were used to make cellulose liquid, which was then squeezed through a very thin spinner: the thinner this spinner is the thinner thread can be produced. That was a revolutionary method that changed the entire fabrics weaving industry. These new fibers were stronger than natural ones and their production was much cheaper than the growing of natural fibers. So, these synthetic fibers darted into fashion and stayed there. And even nowadays superb new materials are being developed and the number of possible synthetic fibers is constantly increasing. Thanks to their wonderful qualities these fibers became very important for all the areas of man's life. Everyday things are made from these fibers and the range of industrial fiber uses is pretty impressive. Optical fibers became a central part in the development of information technology. Optical industrial fiber uses laser's light to transmit information with a very high speed what made such thing as the Internet possible. Moreover, industrial fiber uses in other areas are also possible. For example, such silicon fibers in medicine can help to perform operations. This great achievement of modern technology has contributed to the medical advance. Nonetheless, industrial fiber uses are not limited to fiber glass. Fibers made of other synthetic material can be used in aviation for building very powerful lightweight planes. Combinations of synthetic (usually non-organic fiber is used) fabrics and epoxy resin give an outstanding new material that can be used in different industries. These days there is probably no man's activity where fabrics are not used. Old and modern achievements of fabric weaving craft are needed everywhere.
