Fun Souvenir Magnets -- Different From Bar Magnets.There are a lot of types of fun souvenir magnets today. Traditionally fun souvenir magnets are known as kitchen magnets. All of us remember bar magnets which we used at science classes at grade school. So, what is the difference between such bar magnets and fun souvenir magnets, why don't they react in the same way? This is a good question because when you put two fun souvenir magnets together, they neither attract each other nor repel.
The explanation is as follows. A bar magnet with which you used to play at school represents a single piece of iron which was given the south and the north poles. Of course, it is possible to direct the poles of the small iron pieces in the same direction during manufacturing. Then the magnets would be very powerful and would be able to attract each other and repel depending on the orientation. They would be similar to the polarized bar magnets.
But in reality it is not what the manufacturer and the customer wants. It would be very difficult to pack the magnets like that together while shipping. Moreover they would stick too strongly to the refrigerator. That is why it is custom magnets which are traditionally used for promotional magnets. They are strong enough to hold some papers and are really flexible for the consumer. They are able to become really collectible refrigerator magnets for the company distributing them.
The manufacturers of magnets for refrigerators make sure that the orientations of the iron pieces that are located in the magnets are pointed to different directions. Thus the back of the magnet contains both south and north poles. When you bring the magnet close to the refrigerator it behaves just like a bunch of tiny magnets which stick to the door of your refrigerator. But when you take the magnet at least a small distance from the surface of the door, the field of the magnet gets weak making it very easy to remove. This is the reason why custom magnets do not produce any effect on each other.
Thanks to their staying power the magnets are common collectible items. They are used not only for fun. Due to their functionality, construction and materials they can be with you all the lifetime.
Speaking about magnet shapes it is possible to note that traditionally magnets have rectangular or square shape because the material they are made of it very expensive. It is also possible to give your own artwork to submit it to the magnet. But in this case you should follow the artwork specifications. You can send some of your artworks to the manufacturers and they will tell you which of the artworks are workable.
