Endometriosis is a serious disease that may happen to the women in reproductive state. The real reasons currently are not investigated exactly. The cells of endometrium appear in the places of body where they usually aren't thought to exist. For example, in the fallopian tubes and ovaries, in urinary bladder, peritoneum, rectum and other remote organs. These cells are accumulated in these organs and begin to function as if they are naturally located in the uterus.
The reasons of endometriosis occurrence are still not proven. They are considered to be connected with immune and endocrine disorders and as well they can appear due to surgical operations with the organs of the small pelvis, including abortion, cervical erosion cautery, cesarean operation and etc. Moreover it can appear as a result of the problems with thyroid gland and if the hypophysis fails to produce the required hormones. That is why the treatment of the endometriosis should include the rehabilitation of the endocrine system, immunity and organs of the small pelvis at the same time.
The endometriosis symptoms are various. In some cases they cannot show themselves at all. But usually the typical endometriosis symptoms are abnormal menstrual bleeding, pain and infertility. The pain is usually pelvic; it increases during and before menstruation and lessens after it.
Women suffering from endometriosis symptoms have painful days every month before menstruation. They usually feel pain in the abdomen and the intensity may vary: from a light discomfort to severe pain that forces them to take pain relievers. Before menstruation the pain can occur in the area of the rectum, sacral bone, buttocks, legs, back. Moreover the sick may suffer from abdominal swelling, headaches, vertigo, nausea, vomiting. The patients may feel pain during intercourse and even bowel movements and urination. The disease is also characterized by abnormal menstrual bleeding, premenstrual and intermenstrual spotting.
Very often as a result of endometriosis sick women have the problems with pregnancy. As a rule, the infertility is not absolute, when it is impossible to become pregnant without any serious treatment. In this case the probability of pregnancy is not high in comparison with healthy women. There is a theory that the pregnancy does not occur because there are unfavorable conditions in the body for the development of an embryo.
All these endometriosis symptoms are described in general and only the specialist can diagnose finally after a series of the special medical observations and tests. At the modern clinics and medical centers the ultrasonic examination and laparoscopy are used for diagnosing that allow to examine the cavity of uterus and organs of abdominal cavity without performing major operations.
Sometimes without special equipment, it is quite difficult to discover the disease because the symptoms may be not shown. Never resort to self-diagnosis because the circumstances may be not pleasant.
