Bacterial endocarditis is a condition usually occurring in the heart valves. The condition develops when the bacteria get to the blood stream from the mouth, urinary tract or gastrointestinal tract. Children with congenital heart diseases are most prone to the infection. Though they recover after 4-6 weeks after bacterial endocarditis treatment, the infection may occur again in the future.
