A workaholic has an addiction to work. This kind of addiction might bring pleasure to some people and may cause problems in others. A person who is a workaholic really has only one goal or objective in life and that is to work. His work does not not necessarily bring him satisfaction. It's just a thing without which the existence has no sense. But this is only one of the workaholic's problems. To understand the problem more fully is to understand Japanese "karoshi" as well.
