So you need to consider the tanning lotion properties of these products and how they affect darkness strength or tingling power, and the substances the lotion is based on. You should check the composition of each tanning lotion before the actual use to avoid different problems with health. In general, most of these products are safe, but you can't go wrong by checking the tanning lotion properties.

The modern cosmetic industry offers a great variety of different products for getting a tan. The first-ever tanning lotion was produced in 1960 and its quality was not that perfect. But today with modern technologies almost all the available tanning creams on the market contain tested tanning lotion properties that will give you a wonderful smooth tan. But tanning lotion properties can differ significantly so in order to choose a tanning lotion you need to understand all the tanning lotion properties and why you might need them.

In fact, there are many different means for sunless tanning - tanning accelerators or tanning pills, for example. But the most widely used products for getting tan are special lotions and sprays. Tanning sprays mostly find their use at beauty salons while tanning lotions are used at home.

Tanning lotion properties are defined by the substances it contains. For example, special natural oils are added to protect the moisture level in your skin. A great variety of tanning lotions with hemp oil can be found on the modern market - along with tanning effect these products also moisturize your skin. Moisturizing is very important for tanning because flakes of dry skin peel away making tan fading.

The other important tanning lotion properties, like darkness strength for example, depend on the main agent that is used for getting tanning effect. Most of the modern tanning lotions are based on DHA (dihydroxyacetone). DHA is a sugar that interacts with dead cells in the upper layer of your skin. Tanning lotions based on DHA will usually give you an effect that lasts for about four or five days.

Tingling power is also one of the important tanning lotion properties. Tingle tanning lotions usually contain high concentrations of vitamins and essential oils and these substances stimulate circulation in your skin bringing melanin to upper layer of epidermis. But to avoid different problems you should start with lotions that have lower level of tingle and as you progress with these tanning products you can slowly increase tingling power of your lotion.

The actual application of sunless tanning lotions is in fact not as easy as it looks. First of all, you need to prepare your skin to the sunless tanning. It is better to use excess moisturizing products for a couple of days before the actual tanning. If you use some sunless tanning product for the first time you should definitely check it on some part of your body.

When applying tanning lotion your skin should be dry, clean and do not have other creams and lotions otherwise your sunless tanning procedure can easily result in uneven patches. On the areas like knees, ankles and chest which usually have dry skin apply less lotion - if needed you can always add some later. And of course do not forget that most of these products work very fast so wash your hands (palms) during the procedure or use some protective means, otherwise you'll have tanned hands!

After the applying of sunless tanning lotion you need to wait for about an hour or two depending on particular product. And do not take shower or bath for at least three hours after applying your sunless tanning lotion.
