In the "sunset" of the Middle Ages, in the fifteenth century, Italy encouraged great systematic theories, which conceived one of the most magnificent periods of human progress, fostering creative expression and fueling development in city-states all through Europe. The Italian Renaissance style, or "re-birth", turned the limelight to the secular arts. Fast-forward to the present and it's amazing how interior designers can capture the feel and texture of the Renaissance style and incorporate it into a modern-day home.

Influenced by Medieval and Roman cultures, the Gothic style features open tracery and greatly elaborate carved timber linen fold panels, trefoil and Quadra foil patterns, arches, columns, finials, pointed arches with elements of design carved in oak with dim stained finishes, combined with ornamental wrought iron, trestle tables, colorful tapestries and armoires.
