History for the first.
Piercing exists in many nations from immemorial times. Indian women and Arabs usually wear a ring in a nose (ancient facial piercing). Women-Janomami wear twigs in cheeks and lips and the clay disks implanted in lips. Ethiopian women make a lip piercing. They insert a disk which every year becomes larger and larger (by its size it is possible to learn what quantity of cattle the family of the girl can give as the repayment). Women of some African tribes always do such a procedure: in the certain places in their skin, they make an incision by iron hooks, and after that they strew ashes on the wound. Of course, we consider this kind of facial piercing cruel and unintelligible.
Fashion on piercing. Piercing (piercing of various parts of a body, especially facial piercing) became fashionable and popular with Europeans.
And doctors sound the alarm.
In the 80's, there began to be seen a great increase in nickel-based allergic reactions (almost twice as more often). Scientists directly connected it with the popularity of piercing. This metal contains a lot of the embellishments which are used by piercers. As research teams in the European Union have shown, 11 accessories for piercing out of 12, exceeded the maximum quantities of nickel for human usage. The probability of an allergy to this metal increases with the increase of the apertures number. Besides the allergy, is inclined to expand the sphere of action - one allergen often joins new allergens.
The British association of dentists has declared that fashionable youth tongue piercing can be accompanied with infection in the body and can have serious consequences for health.
Dentists inform us that recently they collide even more often with cases of sepsis and toxic shock at the young men, who followed a piercing fashion. Basically it has happened because the tools which are used by masters of piercing are often unsterile. As a result, the threat of an infection of AIDS and a hepatitis B and C are not excluded.
One problem is that the proper method of sterilization is performed with an autoclave (the tight container in which tools are processed, with the tray, under pressure). It costs about 2.5 thousand dollars - not an item to be found in most piercing shops.
The wound in the tongue (in facial piercing) heals within several weeks. If the nail, inserted into a tongue, is made not of gold, titanium, or surgical steel, an allergic reaction is probable. In completion, people who expose themselves to piercing often break a tooth, or, bite their own tongue. In the British "Magazine of Dentists," there was described the case when a 25-year old woman, in grave condition, was brought to a hospital . After piercing, the walls of her mouth swelled so much that she could not swallow. The condition of the patient worsened after the application of antibiotics. She stayed unconscious for some days. Besides, the handbell which had been inserted into her tongue, was unscrewed, and the woman almost choked on it, having swallowed its parts.
Many dentists in the USA and in Great Britain refuse to consult patients with pierced tongue and lips because piercing can lead to unexpected complications. It is especially difficult to persuade teenagers not to get piercing.
"With tongue piercing, the person jeopardizes the organism as a whole. We urgently advise not to do the tongue piercing", - the chapter of health strategy of group of dentists Association (Great Britain) Jeff Crejg has declared.
The most painless puncture is the lobe of the ear. Though, if a puncture is done above the lobe of the ear, the cartilage is damaged, the same cartilage is in your nose. And cartilages have a propensity to become inflammed, and it badly defies treatment.
A skin on the belly is much more thick than on the lobe of the ear. So, you better not try to pierce it at home. As a rule, it is possible to cut only a superficial layer of the skin (and the ear ring in two-three days will take off). More assiduous piercing is bad too, because there are a lot of blood vessels in navel... And the probability of entering of an infection in insanitary conditions is great enough.
The tongue appears to be a soft organ, but there are large arteries in it. You should be very careful because you may have some big problems in the future if to pierce them inadvertently by inept movement.
