Cotton is a valuable crop, widely used in light industry thanks to such cotton characteristics as durability, absorbency and strength. These properties are given to cotton thanks to the cellulose remaining after all the traces of protein and waxes are removed. Cotton is known to be one of the most chemically intensive crops to grow, that's why an alternative to natural cotton - organic cotton - is often used.

Some authorities claim that first people using cotton were the Egyptians (in 12000 B.C). It was so-called Egyptian cotton. But according to the scientific researches, the first cotton balls to be found in the history of cotton were in the caves of Mexico. In spite of the fact that it proved to be about 7 thousand years ago, the cotton found in Mexico was a lot like the cotton we see today.
