Tumescent technique description was first introduced by dermatologist Jeffrey Klein several years ago. In fact, tumescent liposuction refers to the performance of liposuction procedure by using large volumes of lidocaine dilute solution, local anaesthesia in certain combination with drug epinephrine to shrink temporarily capillaries. A tumescent technique is a relatively new liposuction method, which is known to reduce post operative swelling, pain and bruising. The peculiarity of liposuction tumescent techniques is that during these procedures the blood loss is minimized, the necessity of blood transfusion is also reduced. In tumescent techniques the areas of excess fat are known to be injected with a heavy shot anesthetic liquid (before the liposuction starts).
