In the United States, the peak of popularity of folk-rock bands is likely between the mid-sixties and the mid-seventies. Arising initially from Bob Dylan and earlier musicians` folk-influenced music, folk-rock bands soon incorporated country music elements, inspired by Hank Williams and other prominent performers. Now in the new millennium, folk-rock is a hybrid of styles that still has its roots in simple themes.

Many people believe that of all rock and roll's countless forms, heavy metal is the most intense in terms of volume, theatricality, and machismo. There are myriads of heavy metal rock bands as well as stylistic variations on core sound of heavy metal, but they are all bound together by a dependence on loud, distorted guitars and simple, pounding rhythms. Not to mentions thousands of young girls who follow the bands around and offer free sex and drug to the band members. It's an ugly job but someone has to do it.
