Anime - also called "Japanimation" is the latest export from Japan in the world of cinema. Movie-goers talk about anime like it's the next big thing, but in fact it's been a mainstay of Japanese cinema for decades! For years anime has tackled lightweight subjects like fighting robots, pre-pubescent high school girls or hybrid samurai-animal warriors. But in the last 10 years anime has made huge strides in its subject matter and is finally getting the attention and respect it deserves.

Who would have believed that after an incredible 20 years on prime time television, The Simpsons is still going strong, and with no end in sight! For all its absurdity, The Simpsons may just be on e of the more realistic depictions of a typical American middle class family. Animation TV shows like South Park are far from typical in what they represent! We'd like to think our children don't really act like the ones on South Park, but wouldn't you know it -- their behavior is continuously imitated.
