According to the recent circulation using a questionnaire (regarding the level of the person's happiness and health) biologics is able to improve the human's quality of life. As a matter of fact, biologics method is rather efficient and widely used as one of the psoriasis treatment methods. It's a common knowledge that psoriasis is a chronic skin condition driven by the immune system, particularly involving the so-called "T cell" (type of white blood cell). Normally, T cells are known to protect the human body from various diseases and infections. But in the case of psoriasis disease, the mentioned cells are put into action by some kind of mistake and begin to trigger other immune responses leading to the rapid turnover of skin cells. This disease requires appropriate treatment. One of the well-known psoriasis treatment methods is phototherapy, i.e. a therapy using ultraviolet light. It is represented by three types of treatment: laser therapy, uvb and puva treatment. The most efficient of them is laser therapy. It is widely used in treating limited plaque psoriasis. Laser therapy has a range of advantages comparing with other phototherapy methods. The first advantage is that the effect that laser produces can be limited to psoriatic lesion treatment. This eliminates the harmful influence on the surrounding skin surface. Speaking about uvb and puva treatment it's necessary to mention that as a rule, they are used when patients have plaque, palmo plantar or guttate types of psoriasis. Speaking about another way of psoriasis treatment - biologics method - it's impossible not to mention that it has few side effects and frees the patient from taking drugs. One of the greatest advantages of biologics method comparing with other ones is that it applies treatments made from living sources (created by animal cells and living human). It's worth admitting that biologics is known as proteins working by permanent changing interactions between cells causing different diseases including psoriasis. Although such information has been available for decades, biologics method has only recently been recognized as a "legitimate" psoriasis treatment method. Biologics method means targeting only at concrete parts of the human's immune system which are overactive: some T cells become deactivated or are just prevented moving into the skin, or the number of excessively active T cells is reduced. Some other biologics method procedures work to block messengers of the immune system involved into skin cells overproduction. One of the well-known biologics used for treating from moderate to severe psoriasis disease are called alefacept and efalizumab. They are believed to decrease the number of overactive T cells and block their further activation. This biologics method is introduced by a special intramuscular injection. Thus, while most medications are made by mixing chemicals, biologics are produced from living sources and as a result don't suppress the immune system. They work specifically in the superactive areas and are able to decrease the risk of infection, kidney or liver damages.
