Modern skin-surface treatments are able to enhance the person`s appearance and give the skin a fresher and smoother look. However, they cannot remove deep flaws and scars and prevent aging. Skin-surface treatments shouldn`t be thought of as mini-facelifts. Among the most common skin-surface treatments are retin-A and glycolic acids which offer less prominent results than various surgical approaches like dermabrasion, chemical peeling or dermaplaning.
Many people believe that maintaining their good looks and beauty is easy. However, it is not always the way. Skin-surface treatments can be pretty essential for maintaining your skin healthy appearance. Using facial wash and cream every day should become an integral part of every day care (especially for women). The difference will be worth extra efforts.
It is a common knowledge that there can be either surgical or non-surgical skin-surface treatments. Whether the person is planning any of these treatments it is important that he or she finds a doctor with proper training and experience who is also acquainted with skin-surface treatments after care. Probably any of us would like to have a doctor who can give us the best possible skin-surface treatments or treatments combination, which will be helpful for maintaining good skin condition.
It is rather important for the patient to be able to discuss with the doctor skin-surface treatments goals and expectations and don?t hesitate to ask questions or express concerns regarding the matter. At the same time the doctor is also supposed to be open with the patient and make necessary skin-surface treatments review and take into account all the factors possible to influence the treatment choice (they include overall human health and skin condition, age, previous treatment options and surgeries, etc.).
So, among the most common and efficient skin-surface treatments available at the market nowadays are retin-A and glycolic acids. The initial application of the mentioned treatments will probably be performed in the hospital or outpatient facility.
Generally speaking, retin-A is considered to be the most efficient skin-surface treatment for mature people, who suffer from facial lines, wrinkles, blotchy pigmentation caused primarily by excessive sun exposure. At the same time, retin-A can also be prescribed to younger individuals who would like to combat harmful influence of sun exposure to the human skin. Retin-A is known to be the preparation treatment for patients, who are planning to undergo a chemical peeling procedure. Speaking about retin-A, it is worthy mentioning that this skin-surface treatment makes the skin outer layer thinner and therefore allows the chemical peeling acid solution to penetrate deeper and evenly. Be aware that retin-A is never recommended for pregnant women or young nursing mothers for the reason this skin-surface treatment is likely to effect their health considerably. It may cause temporary skin redness and mild irritation, itching or skin dryness.
Another well-known skin-surface treatment is glycolic acid (also known as fruity acid) which can offer smoother skin to people of any age. This type of skin-surface treatments is usually prescribed for people with sun-damaged skin. It is curious that sometimes glycolic acids are blended with various bleaching chemicals to level out skin surface areas with uneven pigmentation. Be aware that glycolic acid also thins the outer skin layer and therefore the patient may need to use efficient sunscreens to provide skin with proper ultraviolet protection.
