A Recap of Major Organs Transplanted

It seems odd to refer to organ transplants as "major" or "minor". To me, ALL organs are major organs transplanted. One organ is no less important than the other. The practice of transplantations has grown greatly since the time of its development and today speaking about major organs transplanted as well as tissues cells and fluids we can make a certain kind of solid organs review and give general information about the state of transplantation field in medicine today.

The question of organs transplantations worries almost everybody of us as almost each of us has even come across this problem. And really, the number of transplantations during the last period of time has grown greatly, in fact. There is no universal explanation for such a fact but the most possible is that this branch of surgery and medicine in general has made a great progress during the last few years.

It must be said that the history of transplantations is rather long and filled with different very interesting facts and experiments successful as well as awful ones. Nevertheless, it is becoming more and more widespread all over the world and gives more successful results and guarantees in comparison with the situation about some five or ten years ago.

Operations of organs transplantation differ according to different factors and have different grades of difficulty and seriousness. In general such a kind of surgery is one of the most complicated ones and requires concentration and good professional practice. Major organs transplanted are in most cases kidneys, lungs, liver and so on.

With the course of time medicine gains higher and higher results and today transplantation of such tissues and organs as knees, trachea, larynx, bowel, cartilage are possible. Besides these listed organs we can also talk about transplantation of blood and skin. As concern blood transplantation it is also one of the major organs transplanted if it can be said so.

And in such a case one and the same person can be donor for several times but not very often as it can be harmful for his or her health. In general donors in any cases of transplantation are divided into dead donors and live donors. In the first case transplantation of organs that are extremely important for supporting life is used. In the second case we come across transplantation of different tissues cells and fluids.

Frankly speaking, it is very difficult to make solid organs review as it will demand the gathering of the statistics and different information all over the world and also minding the fact that the situation is changing every day and rather quickly it is almost impossible. Nevertheless, there are some certain figures concerning this question.

Now it is probably high time to say a few words about the history of 'transplantation industry'. The first attempt of transplantation was made in 1870 by Sweden scientist Reverd. Starting from that date the history of transplantation practice began and had various results: both successful and not.

The question of transplantation is rather contradictive and causes different debates of different people. As it is known hearts are among major organs transplanted and some people believe that while such a situation not only heart but also the soul of the person is replaced. It has caused different quarrels and debates and the process has not stopped till this day.

Nevertheless, thousands of people come across the problem once or for several times in their lives. In cases when somebody's relatives or close friends are ill or demand transplantation most people change their points of view and do everything possible to come out of the situation.

Also there are a great number of volunteer donors of blood, and also quite a few donors of tissues and organs. Some people even ask to use their organs for transplantations even after their death. These donors usually keep a "donor card" filled out in their wallets, so in case of accidental death or death under normal circumstances, the organs of the deceased can be used.

Such operations are rather hard and complicated and thousands of doctors and in general surgeons try to gain good results in studying the theory and practice of major organs transplanted and in most cases such attempts are rather successful.
