An Address Books Review for Absent Minded People

Added: 02/28/2006

It's a rare person who hasn't ever used an address book or a compact planner. Being involved in our common affairs and social responsibilities we often face with the necessity of keeping in our minds a huge number of names, addresses, phone numbers, accounts, etc. or feel despair trying to plan our business week. This address books review is devoted to this particular matter.

Let's begin our address books review with a kind of definition. Address book is a small- or middle-sized book with blank pages only or with pages lined into columns for separate kinds of data; pages are often performed in alphabetical order for quick finding the data required and classifying them. An address book may also contain the information of general character (e. g. zip-codes, phone codes, phones and addresses of various social services, emergency phones, etc.).

Address books are used for storing important information of personal or business character including phone numbers, faxes, e-mails, ICQ's, addresses, names, names of organizations, agendas and other additional information of any kinds. It is a very convenient means to have all the useful information represented in one place and subdivided into categories. Address book format makes it possible to have all the data with you and consequently have an opportunity of using them any time you want.

We can generally say that classical address book is a leather-covered compact book that can be put into breast pocket. But in modern context the definition is much wider. There is a very vast range of address books nowadays: from small-sized ones to address books of very solid size, from pocket phone atlases to very solid business versions and electronic address books. They may be leather-covered, paper-covered, with plastic covering, etc.

Besides being a very useful accessory an address book is a great sign of its owner's status. Respectable businessmen and women often have address books in expensive leather-with-gold covering. These books as a rule are of rather solid size and they are usually put into some kind of case or brief case. Address book for businessman is not only a useful mean of storing important information but something akin to watch or tie, or suite; something that clearly demonstrates "who he is".

A teenager's address book, on the contrary, has no necessity of demonstrating its owner's respectability or high social status. It is more important for teenager to be extraordinary and prominent. It may be something very bright or glittering, colored in all spectrum of colors, it may be paper-covered, or with plastic covering or anything else or with some very stylish details, etc.

So, we could say about address books for different age, social and psycho groups but it would take much time and space. Thus, to continue our address books review let's consider some general moments connected with the matter.

All address books can be relatively divided into two types: atlas telephones and compact planners. The first ones are used to store such information as phone numbers, e-mails, faxes, ICQ's, addresses, zip-codes, etc. of some people and organizations, the names of which are usually performed in alphabetical order (as a rule, pages are arranged in alphabetical order). Or the information may be performed in random order. Pages are ruled into columns for each kind of the above mentioned information.

The second type presented in our address books review can be characterized as an address books used not only for storing addresses, etc. but can contain any other additional information (some useful tips, daily planning, agendas, etc.). As a rule, they consist of blank pages but may contain two parts: one for storing addresses, phones, etc. (ruled into columns); the other is for the information of any kind (blank pages).

I hope this brief address books review will be in help and you will find a suitable variant.
