Soccer is the sport of the new century. And almost every country has soccer clubs. There are some famous among them, for example, the club "Arsenal" from England or Italian "Internacional".
People from five continents in more than forty countries play it. Nowadays there are thirty-two teams in National Football League (NFL). They are divided into two conferences- National and American. Each of them is divided into four division - Eastern, Western, Northern and Southern. Every division has four American soccer clubs.
National Football League (NFL) was created in 1920. On the twentieth of August four American soccer clubs - "Akron Pros", "Canton Bulldogs", "Cleveland Indians" and "Dayton Triangles" decided to organize the first professional organization American Professional Football Conference. Six more clubs wanted to join it. On the seventeenth of September it was renamed in American Professional Football Association which included fourteen American soccer clubs. The first champion of APFA (American Professional Football Association) was "Akron Pros". They always won. That year the player Bob Nash from "Akron Pros" was sold in three hundred dollars to the club "Buffalo All-Americans".
Later in 1921 the head of APFA was John Carr. He was also the owner of the club "Columbus Panhandles". APFA to that time included twenty-two teams. "Green Bay Packers" was among them. In the championship of APFA, which was the first one of National Football League, thirty teams took part. The club "Chicago Staleys" became the first champion. That year Jorge Halas became its owner. He also was its referee. He bought the team "Decatur Staleus" from the company "A.E.Staley" and brought it to Chicago. Next season it was renamed into "Bears". So, since that time it has been called as "Chicago Bears".
In 1922, APFA was renamed into National Football League - NFL. There were eighteen teams in it. They took part in NFL championship. The winner was the club "Canton Bulldogs".
In 1924, the first was the club "Canton Bulldogs". This club won twenty-five games nonstop. And it was a record of NFL.
Some clubs left NFL, other clubs became its members. The club "New York Giants" became its member, too.
In 1926, twenty-two teams took part in NFL championship. The strongest one was "Frankford Yellowjackets".
In 1928, there were only ten teams in NFL. The champion was "Providence Steam Roller".
In 1931, the club "Green Bay Packers" was the strongest one again.
In 1932, there were only eight teams in NFL. "Chicago Bears" was the best. The club "Boston Braves" which is now known as "Washington Redskins" became NFL member.
In 1933, the club "Pittsburg Pirates", now it is known as "Pittsburg Steelers" and the club "Philadelphia Eagles" became NFL teams.
As for the previous decade the situation was the following. The team "Buffalo Bills" was in the Super Bowl XXV final in 1991. In 1993, "Dallas Cowboys" was stronger than "Buffalo Bills". In 1994, "Dallas Cowboys" was the best again. In 1995, "Jacksonville Jaguars" - "Carolina Panthers" appeared in NFL. In 1997, "Green Bay Packers" won Super Bowl XXXI after thirty years' break. In 1999, clubs "Denver Broncos" and "Tenessee Titans" became members of NFL.
Nowadays there are thirty-one American soccer clubs in NFL.
