Debates on animal testing and all the issues that are connected with this subject are pretty big these days. Along with the tendency of using natural organic products many cosmetics manufacturers claim that they do not perform animal testing of any kind. The very first company, which claimed to be cruelty free cosmetics manufacturer that did not use animal testing, was "Avon". Many world wide known brands like "Max Factor", "Revlon" and "Boots" soon followed the Avon initiative. They changed their production and claimed that their products were not being tested on animals.
Claims of big cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies calmed the public for a while but then it turned out that everything is not that good as it seems. There is still no certainty about all those claims of big cosmetics companies. And although they say that they are cruelty free and do not perform animal testing we still can understand what it means. There are many cases when a parent company uses other brands to perform animal testing of their cosmetic or some of its components. Such cheating allows bigger companies to have a pretty nice looking face in front of public and still perform all the tests they need.
In fact, animal testing of cosmetics and household chemical goods are not actually required by the law. In most of the countries all over the world it is necessary that cosmetics and other similar products to be safe for the human. There is no need in performing animal testing. Many companies used animal testing data as a way to protect themselves from lawsuits. So in many cases tests on animals, performed by bigger cosmetics companies, are only needed to avoid problems with law if the product of this company would have undesirable side effects. But there is much easier way to avoid all these problems at once - natural or as they also widely known today "organic" products.
Today more and more people prefer using natural cosmetics. Such remedies are usually based on old recipes and all of them are made of herbs and plants, which means that they do not contain any potentially dangerous chemicals. That lowers the risk of possible side effects and make animal testing unnecessary. Most of the recipes used in organic cosmetics are pretty old and have been used for ages, so they have been tested on humans many times. Many new studies in a sector of natural products are being performed today making everything much safer for both people, using cosmetics, and animals.
