There are many very poor countries in the world. And the gap in health care between them and developed countries is huge. The lack of medications, medical equipments and qualified medical specialists slows down the further development of these poor countries. In many of them there is a lack of even pretty simple medical equipment not even mentioning pretty complicated neurosurgical instrument kits.

And even if there were such neurosurgical instruments there is a small number of professional neurosurgeons in these countries who can use the set of neurosurgical instruments in a proper way. That is why, an especially composed basic set of neurosurgical instruments was offered by "World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies" and "Aesculap." Numerous investigations and observations that were performed by personnel of the Federation showed the huge need in such basic set of neurosurgical instruments especially in poor and developing countries.

Working conditions of neurosurgeons there are terrible, all the medical equipment is old and usually in a pretty bad condition. And the surgeons also need a special training course on modern equipment and methods used in neurosurgery. Moreover, in developing countries the number of trained professionals in neurosurgery is insufficient and those employed are not familiar with the latest techniques and methods. There are also no specialists who could train local doctors in the sector of neurosurgery. And the number of neurosurgical patients in these countries is not smaller than in the developed countries but here they simply cannot get access to appropriate treatment.

That is the main reason why a world wide project has been launched by Aesculap and WFNS (the president of both Aesculap and World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies is the central figure of this project; he coordinates all the meetings and conferences). With their idea of basic set of neurosurgical instruments WFNS is set to start sponsoring support in developing countries. Such a program in the future can provide these countries with the adequate sets of instruments for neurosurgical operations.

The basic set of neurosurgical instruments provided by WFNS is designed to serve the main purpose in important operations, such as classic emergency decompression procedures, for example. But it is not only the basic set of neurosurgical instruments that is provided, WFNS specialists are planned to train local neurosurgeons. And new neurosurgical tools will definately change the quality of treatment of neurosurgical patients in that country. These standards of neurosurgical operations in these countries are still to be changed for the better.

But today that wonderful program is just fledging and Federation is now looking for the sponsoring support, the organizations which are ready to buy basic set of neurosurgical instruments of World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. A personnel of WFNS is looking all over the world for the support of their project of basic set of neurosurgical instruments.
