Best poker room criteria

Added: 10/03/2005

If you are a gambler you could notice that all gambling advertisements are full of so-called "BEST". Best casino, Best slots, Best poker room, Best card games, Best, Best, Best... How do they manage to be the Best or is that just a trick? So they have no value... This can't be true... there are some casinos, rooms and games that are really the best ones, but how to find them? Who knows all the criteria of the highest quality?

Small private poker games can have a lot of fun. They're informal, you're playing with close friends or acquaintances, but it doesn't seem to be a true poker.

You may find the best poker room only in a casino. But who are to decide which room is the best poker room, who may determine the difference between the best poker room and the common poker room. Most casinos and poker arcades promote their places as the best ones, but whom are we supposed to believe? Many may say that the best poker room is the poker room where you win a lot. And that is true in some way.

There are also online poker rooms and all of them are "the best poker room" according to the advertisements. They offer their users various options, games. You may play from the site or from the special program, rich of colorful interface. Here you play with other users - opponents. But no one will deny that nothing can replace the real game, none of the technologies does.

Actually, legal poker rooms, which are considered to be of a high level, differ from a home game, they are the essence of the poker, they keep the history and its culture, it's absolutely different experience. And you'll see it.

All casino poker rooms have strict rules and etiquette.
A front-line employee of a casino is forced to obey two rules when it comes to casino customers. One - the player is always right, and two - if the player is wrong, see the rule number one.

The casino expects everyone to know the rules and to respect them, and it's easy to become the focus of player disdain or dealer warnings if you violate them. Nobody wants to be criticized or laughed at.

In home games, those few rules which do exist usually aren't enforced. Everyone might know that you're supposed to wait until your turn before you fold, but your friends aren't going to get on with you because you folded early, so you could go to the fridge and make a sandwich.

Most rules vary dramatically from one place to another. In some casinos it's normal to take chips in your hands and then rap the table with them, while in others that's considered to be illegal and all the moves toward the pot with chips in hands oblige you to bet.

So if you decide to play, it becomes important to learn the local rules, too.

At home it's very common to play Dealer's game choice. In casino you'll only find a few different games, and you're sitting down to play only one game.

In your home game, the stakes are set at the start of the night, and they don't change. And in the large cardrooms, you'll probably have an option for a stake to play.

This difference can give you some nice flexibility. If the cards aren't running your way, it isn't hard to switch to a lower-stake game. Or if the Lady Luck is on your side, you can go to find a higher stake game.

At home you probably aren't used to playing at the table full of skilled players. In a cardroom, if you go to one of the higher stake tables, that's a very real possibility.
Casino poker games are extremely long, when home poker often ends at a reasonable hour. So if you play the first time the endless poker session you have to find the will to get up and leave, or it will never end itself.

For some people, getting up and leaving when losing is very hard. For others, getting up and leaving when winning is very hard. In the outcome you are getting tired and losing too much.

Tipping is also one of the important parts of a casino. Tipping is "obligatory" if you are winning. It is the sign of respect to the place, a dealer, a front-line employee.

When you decide to visit one of the best poker rooms, check whether it is really the one they tell about. And only then ask yourself - Are you ready for that? Do you really want it?

If you are positive, wish you good luck.
