The mechanism of racing systems

Added: 10/20/2005

All Racing systems in their nature are the precisely developed tough business. The system means that all parts of that system work together in a close connection and depend on each other: horses and jockeys, bets and racing commissions, visitors and owners... You should always keep it in mind and never forget. Never loosen your attention. Keep an eye on all around.

If you have no place to spend a day, there is no doubt that the racecourse is perfect for that. It is worth visiting in any case, even with the family. And it is not only fifteen minutes of watching horses running around a field. This is a complex of entertainment racing systems. And as it has already been proven, the more you know about the system, the more fun you can expect.

Most people expect a day at the races to be the one where ladies wear special hats and men in top hats drink champagne, etc. Drop it out of your mind. The first of your concerns should be the rules or etiquette, but not all those glamour fantasies.

All the racetracks have strict rules on clothes - dress code, which may vary depending on the hippodrome area you wish to enter. In the Member's area it is expected that men wear a jacket and tie, and women are treated the same way. There are no exceptions, because this is obligatory for the Members, and it is taken for granted, no one dares coming in jeans. If you are unsure how to behave, it is better to call the course in advance and clarify everything out beforehand.

Your shoes should be comfortable so that you`ll be able to spend a day walking. As you will be in the open space all day long, take some clothes with you in case the weather changes. The temperature can vary from warm to cold.

Always bring enough money with you. If you take children, consider that children under the age of 16 are usually free of charge. But don't forget to bring enough money for betting, additional food and drink. Don`t wonder about racing commissions then.

As in other decent places the food is not allowed to be brought into any of the enclosures, so are alcohol drinks, everything you need you may buy inside the hippodrome.

You may bring a photo or a video camera and shoot freely, but it is forbidden to use flash, because it may scary the horses.

Almost all courses offer some recreational facilities for kids, however they are not allowed into certain enclosures. So think twice before taking children with you.

People find these rules easy to understand, and the same is with all racing systems.

If you are smart enough and want to win regularly, don`t break the settled racing systems, just bet on the horses which have won their last races. This racing systems approach will help you in eliminating the weak runners - losers in majority! If there is more than one horse in the same race which has won the last races, you can either bet on all of them or - in case you doubt - ignore the race.

You need to know that there are several varieties of bets available on races:

"Win bets" require you to predict the winner of the race.

In "Place bets" you should select the horse which finishes the 1st or the 2nd in a 7 runners race, or if more runners participate in a race you select from the the 1st, the 2nd or the 3rd place.

In "Each way" you should point out a horse that wins or gains a certain position.

"Forecasts" require you to name the two horses that will get the 1st and the 2nd place, in the order.

Reading the form cards will help you to predict the winner at a race. They are available at all courses, and they are also published in the sport pages of daily newspapers. The form for each runner presents the very important information. What could all those numbers mean?

The first symbol on the form card is the horse number.

A recent form, stated as a finishing position. Here you can see the results of the most recent races.

The name of the horse goes next. Just its nickname.

Then come the days since the last run. It is important if a runner wasn`t out of the game for sometime.

The letter "C" indicates the course victory, if a horse has previously won over the same course.

If a horse has previously won over the same distance - the letter "D" shows it.

Then the trainer`s name goes. The last information is the age of a horse, its weight and the name of the jockey.

Being aware of this, you may select the horse according to your requirements. And if everything is correct, you appear to be the betting winner.
