Each game has its own rules. Poker games have their own unique ones. Hands in poker play the most important part of the game. According to the rank of poker hands the winner is defined. The winning poker hands take all the pot. The first tip for the beginners is to remember all the possible variations of hands in poker and the luck will be on your side.

A hand in poker rules everything. The most valuable are the winning poker hands. Hand has different meanings. It can mean a play which consists of a deal, betting rounds and a showdown. A certain value combination of five cards is also called Hand and this is the main meaning. It also goes to all players' cards in the game.

According to the strict hierarchy of card's value we differentiate the ranks of poker. Only five cards make a poker hand, it always consists of 5 cards. There are 2,598,960 distinct variations of 5 card hands with suits included, but there is no ranking of suits in poker hands as they are of the same value.

All the qualifying hands in poker have their unique names. They are the standard for all poker games.

Royal flush is the best of the winning poker hands, this is the same suit with a five cards sequence coming from the highest card Ace down to the 10.

Straight flush needs any five cards of the same suite in sequence.

According to the name "Four of a kind", a hand with four cards of the same rank should be gathered.

In Full house the three cards of one rank and two of another are required.

A hand with five cards of the same suit is called Flush.

When it is five cards in sequence, it is called Straight. In straight it may occur that the ace can be lower than the two, but higher than the king.

The other hands are of the less value than the others. Three cards of the same rank form "Three of a kind". Two cards of one rank and two of another in hand also known as "Two pair". If you've got only two cards of the same rank, it is "One Pair". There is also a hand which is called "No Pair"

Because of the cards relative probabilities, the rank of poker hands has a particular order, where rarer hands are ranking above more common hands. There is an additional type of a hand type in a poker game where wild cards are used - five of a kind. Five of a kind becomes higher and more valuable hand than the straight flush.

General rules are easy to learn.

Individual ranking of cards goes from high to low: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.

In those situations when hands contain no pairs or other wanted combinations, only individual card ranks help to evaluate hands.

Suits in poker games have no value at all. The only use for suits is in determining a certain category of a hand.

A hand always consists of five cards. Hands are ranked by their category first and then by the individual card ranks. Even the lowest qualifying hand defeats all hands in all lower combinations. Card ranks are used to determine the position between the two hands in the same category.

There is absolutely no importance in which order the cards are dealt.

There are some variations of poker games that are called lowball or low poker, where the rules may differ, the winning poker hands here are the lowest of ranking hands.

Also there are many exceptions among poker games. In some games, like lowball the Ace is ranked low. Certain variants of the game may use hands of only three cards. Some poker games are played with a stripped of low-ranking cards deck. And some games have one or more additional unconventional hands.

It is not as difficult to learn as it seemed at the first sight. Don't be afraid and the winning poker hands will be waiting for you at the poker table.
