Toshiba Satellite Series

Added: 08/02/2006

A lot of consumers are very pleased with the Toshiba Satellite line of notebooks. The Satellite series is well known for its durability and long term nature, in a system that spits out new systems every 6 months. Even the M35-S320, an older model from a couple of years back, can be used comfortably as a main notebook for any user. Bargains are available online for this model, and a recent search on EBay shows it can sell for as low as $399 dollars.

The M35-S320 comes with the basic functions for everyday computer use, and should meet any casual users' needs. Powered by a Pentium M 1.5 GHZ processor and a 32mb NVIDIA card, the 512mb of ram included in the sizable package is more than enough to cater to the average consumers needs. The screen is sizable enough, at about 15.4 inches, and with the combined dvd-rom/cd-rw drive it's perfect to watch movies on. The wireless modem and network card is still equal to today's standards, and doesn't lack a lot of the functionality other computer components usually do after model upgrades.

The M35-S320 series is named for its wireless networking capabilities, and can be considered the granddaddy of the wireless notebook packs. The novelty of wireless notebooks soon caught on and spread to more competent platforms, but nevertheless not leaving the originator in the dust.

The Toshiba Satellite series can go online right out of the box, and with the abundance of free wireless hotspots available, is very ideal to have on a long trip. The vendor specific components in the Satellite series also make it a good entertainment box, for both games and movies. Depending on the model, battery power ranges from friendly to horrible. But on an average, the laptops power is pretty even all around.

During the opening of the 2006 of 'M' models of the Satellite series, Toshiba unveiled the powerhouse M-65. The larger hard drive blows away the roomy 60 GB M35-S320 unit, and battery power has finally seemed to have found a comfortable point. Being marketed as a graphical powerhouse, it is only fair the battery compliments it as well.

With a long history of success behind it, the M-65 should have a lot of consumers backing its reliable hardware.
