The goals of the transportation advertising are pretty much the same as the outdoor advertising, but it offers some more possibilities and ways of achieving them.

Transportation advertising has several benefits over the billboard outdoor advertising, such as:

  • Low cost;
  • Regularity of the public transportation ruts and passengers' rotation;
  • More time for customers to study advertisements.

This kind of advertising offers a very high level of customers contact with ad information and the frequency of it as people take the same public transportation ruts to get to their work or to other places every day. They have much time to read the ad info, while they are on their way.

 

There are several kinds of outdoor transportation advertising:

  • Outside displays;
  • Inside displays;
  • Airports and train stations' advertising;
  • Public stations' advertising. 

Let us take a closer look at some of them.

 

The outside display advertising is the one located on the outside of a bus, subway car, train car, etc. There are two main standard sizes of such advertisements: King size and Queen Size. The King size ads are large and can be located on both sides of the bus or other vehicles. The Queen Size ads are smaller and usually located only on the right side of it. There are also full display size ads, which cover all available display of the vehicle.

 

The advertisers may want to select specific ruts for their ads to be located on. Thus, they can better cover a chosen segment of their target market. The outside display advertising works only during the daytime.

 

Inside display advertising is located inside various public transportation vehicles, at the places, where customers can best see it . These kinds of ads can also contain coupons and other tear-off features, which give them a direct response function. The inside display advertising provides a great frequency since it is exposed to a large number of people, using public transportation, on daily basis.

 

Public stations' advertising is one of the most effective ways of advertising in large cities. Lately, the amount of such advertising has immensely increased.

An average station poster size would be 4 by 6 feet. They are capable of attracting attention of both: public transport passengers and people walking by. Most of those posters have illumination, so they 'work' 24 hours a day. Station posters are not large like the outdoor posters or bulletins but they have no less effect than the later ones, since they are located on the eye level and have no competition in attracting people's attention.

 

The outdoor transportation advertising is an advertising area of fast growth and it is becoming more and more popular, providing high level of visual effect and increase of customers' knowledge about brands or products.
