Added: 10/24/2005

Dallas-based MetroPCS, Inc. is a provider of wireless communications services. MetroPCS is among the first companies to deploy an all-digital network, based on third generation infrastructure and handsets. It offers flat rate plans with unlimited minutes and no contract.

Continuing to provide worry-free wireless, the MetroPCS Corporation was the first wireless operator to offer unlimited text messaging internationally. It launched TextTalk Global, an unlimited international SMS service package and multiMETRO, a multi-line plan that provides significant savings to the subscribers.

With TextTalk Global, MetroPCS subscribers can send and receive an unlimited number of text messages internationally for the flat rate of three dollars per month. They may also choose unlimited domestic text messaging for three dollars per month. Thus, for a flat rate of six dollars per month MetroPCS customers can send an unlimited number of text messages internationally and in the United States.

The MetroPCS Corporation has offered an unlimited long distance and local service that allows the customers to talk wherever and whenever they want for forty dollars a month. This, once again, has changed the way consumers use their wireless phones. Since launching this service, over a twenty month period, the number of the company subscribers has grown to nine hundred thousand

"Ever since we launched our wireless service, we have realized a positive response among consumers, when they are given the freedom to talk all they want for one monthly rate. Now we are further changing the face of the wireless by providing an unlimited service for long distance, making it even easier and more affordable for customers to communicate with anyone, anytime, to anywhere in the country," said Roger Linquist, the MetroPCS founder and CEO. "The Unlimited long distance builds upon our business philosophy of truly taking the worry out of wireless and strengthens our position as an innovative wireless service provider that listens and responds to consumer needs."

With the unlimited anytime service, provided by the MetroPCS Corporation, the company customers do not have to worry about how long they talk or what time of the day they talk to friends and family at home or across the country.

In October, 2005, Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC and TA Associates, two leading buyout and private equity firms, announced that they were investing three hundred million dollars each to complete a seven hundred and thirty seven million dollar minority equity investment in MetroPCS Communications, Inc.

"MetroPCS has a truly differentiated service offering, a valuable customer base that is underserved by other wireless carriers and impressive financial performances. We are confident that together with Madison Dearborn and an outstanding management team and existing investors at MetroPCS, we will further grow the business and create substantial value in the future."

MetroPCS Corporation was founded in 2004 and is focused on decently populated markets, which supply significant operational efficiencies. Presenting simple, flat-rate calling plans that support an unlimited usage within a local calling area with no long-term contracts, the company is one of the lowest cost providers of wireless voice and data services in the U.S. Its state-of-the-art network, based on CDMA 1xRTT technology, utilizes a spectrum more efficiently than the other commonly deployed wireless technologies.
