Quadro FX 4500 is a new professional graphical adapter from NVIDIA. Its name is G70 and it is worth of being the representative of the Quadro FX family. At the same time, it has some new features in its construction and the chip architecture.
A cooler of Quadro FX 4500 has significant sizes. It takes two layers and uses heat tubes. The Quadro FX 4500 has one feature that is specific for the chip G70 - it has an uneven distribution of the clock between functional blocks. A block of top processors works with the clock 470 MHz and the other blocks work with the clock 550 MHz. The GeForce 7800 GTX has another distribution: it is 470 MHz for the top processors block and 430 MHz for the other blocks. This way the Quadro FX 4500 has accelerated the main part of the kernel from 430 MHz up to 550 MHz, and thus, the cooling system for the new chip is also enforced. Moreover, this system is more efficient and more silent, comparing to the Quadro FX 4400. Furthermore, the new model has decreased a power supply, though the difference in 1 Wt cannot be treated as a significant one.
The Quadro FX 4500 is provided with the 512 MB GDDR-3 memory. At the back side of the video card the memory cards are cooled by an aluminum radiator. The memory clock for the DDR memory is 1050 MHz, which is the same parameter as for the old model. A professional version of the video card has twenty four pixel conveyors.
The owners of the video cards Quadro FX 4400 and Quadro FX 4500 should purchase special extension cards to work with the functions FrameLock and GenLock. Actually, the support of SLI technology opens an access to the advanced modes up to FSAA 32x to the video cards Quadro FX 4500. This is essentially a new opportunity, since the drivers have recently started to support this feature.
The second new video card from this series is Quadro FX 3450. This product is not related to the family G7x, as it is based on the 0.11 mkm chip NV42GL. In fact, this product is a professional version of GeForce 6800 PCI-Express in its progressive modification. The chip has twelve pixel conveyors and the video card works with the clock rates 425/1000 MHz for the processor and memory. The cooling system is inherited from the GeForce 6800 GT.
