The modern models of the pocket PCs are provided with colored TFT displays. Monochrome or STN displays are still in use for the pocket PCs, however, this trend will be history soon. A typical pocket PC has a display with the resolution 240x320 or 480x640 pixels for the operation system Windows Mobile and 160x160, 320õ320 and 320x480 pixels for the pocket PC on Palm OS. A high resolution for 480x640 pixels in VGA mode has appeared for the Windows Mobile operation system recently. Actually, this is a positive event for the pocket PC development and, at the same time, there are some negative sides. The linear size of the displays was not increased, therefore, new displays are not able to show more information than it was before. A higher resolution increased the stream of the graphical data and it is a reason for the increased power supply. Special utilities for pocket PC like SE_VGA or OzVGA, which can emulate true VGA mode to place more information at display, may solve this disadvantage. Certainly, a higher resolution is the best way to show images and pictures with a higher quality.
