All producers of new monitors are trying to achieve better technical parameters. At the same time, these companies improve their technological processes to decrease the price of new monitors to make them available for more customers. Some years ago, it was impossible to imagine an LCD display with the cost less than 1000 euros. Nowadays, the prices are much lower.
Let us take a look at one representative of the new monitors family - MacroView MV5000. This monitor is very good for the office usage. There are the following technical characteristics:
-the screen diagonal is 15.4";
-the matrix type is LTPS LCD Panel;
-the grain size is 0.1725 mm;
-the maximal resolution is 1280x1024;
-the resolution for the wide-format mode (W-XGA standard - 1280x768);
-the contrast - 400:1;
-the brightness is 250 kd per square meter;
-the viewing angles are 100 degrees / 90 degrees;
-the typical response time is 20 ms;
-inputs - D-Sub 15 pin, S-Video, RCA, audio mini-jack;
-two external speakers;
-external power unit;
-the sizes are 330x385x140 mm.
Optionally, new monitors of this model may have S-Video and AV inputs, a TV tuner and a sensor display. In theory, the opportunities, provided by the monitors of such family, are very wide. You will be able to watch movies even without a computer from a DVD player or a TV tuner.
There is nothing unusual in the external look of this model. It has a silver border of 18 mm wide. The monitor is very stable and it is impossible to push it away from the table by an accident.
You can perform the control of the monitor by five buttons, which are hidden above the right lower part of the panel. The navigation in the menu is very simple. You should press the button Menu and use Up and Down buttons to choose needed menu items. You can use the following functions of the screen menu: auto setup, brightness, contrast and display adjust. There are also additional items: Sharpness, Hue and Saturation.
All new monitors have one specific feature - they provide the best image quality, when they are adjusted to their own resolution. However, you can find some applications, which will require another resolution without any opportunity to change it. A successful functioning of such applications requires the ability of the monitor for interpolation.
MV5000 is one of a few models, which has good opportunities for interpolation. To test this feature, you can change the resolution from 1280x1024 to 1024x768. There are no visible changes: the picture is still clear. The transfer to the 800x600 mode is also painless. The reason is that the MV500 has a small size of the points and the interpolation algorithm is successful.
The disadvantage of the monitor is a low number of shades from black to white. In fact, the monitor ignores the most part of the shades. It seems to be the feature of LTPS panel, and there are no available tools to fix this issue.
The MacroView MV5000 is a good monitor that will qualify the conditions for an office display or a screen for watching movies. This monitor can be efficiently used as a replacement for the LCD TV with a small diagonal.
