The company Tibbo Technology provides hardware and modem server software for the fast connection to the devices with a consecutive interface (RS232, RS422, RS485) to the Ethernet networks (TCP/IP).
Nowadays, there are many devices that work via the asynchronous consecutive interface RS485, RS422 or RS232 server. The management of such devices requires a placement of separate cables. This activity creates many problems, such as a high mounting cost for the separate cables; a limited maximal length of the cables; an ability of the consecutive device to connect with one control computer.
A widespread usage of the TCP/IP networks (including the Internet) resulted with the appearance of a well developed cable infrastructure. The management of devices and hardware via the TCP/IP networks allows to solve all the problems, which were listed above. It is a pity, but many existing devices are provided only with a simple consecutive interface and their direct connection to the TCP/IP networks is impossible. A revision of the device and providing it with a network interface equals in the whole redesign, since you will need to modify the hardware part of the device, its micro code and also PC or modem server software for the management of this device. There is a possibility to avoid such revision.
Consecutive devices servers that are provided by the company Tibbo Technology permits a connection of any device with the consecutive interface to the Ethernet network. Sending the consecutive data via the TCP/IP network happens transparently. At the same time, you do not require any modifications either for the device micro code or for the PC or modem server software.
A new problem may appear after connecting the consecutive device to the network. Existing modem server software works only with COMP ports and it is not appropriate for the work with the TCP/IP connection. This problem can be easily solved by a virtual consecutive port driver. It emulates the work of the real COM port at PC and redirects data via the TCP/IP network to the consecutive access server and the connected device. The Network connection via the computer and the consecutive device is transparent. The software and consecutive device are continuing to function the same way, as it was with the consecutive cable usage.
Since DS100 and EM 100 apply the standard protocols TCP and UDP, there is an opportunity to develop your own software that will work with DS 100 or EM 100 directly, avoiding the driver of the virtual port.
When two consecutive devices are connected via the network or the virtual consecutive port, the driver can not be in use due to the reason that these two servers of consecutive devices (for example, the RS 232 server) can create the virtual consecutive connection. This connection emulates the consecutive cable.
The server of the serial devices DS100 is an external complete device. It permits connecting the hardware that has a serial interface with the Ethernet TCP/IP network. The device lets a transparent duplex data redirection between the serial and 10BaseT Ethernet ports with the TCP/IP or UDP/IP protocols. Actually, the easy to change configuration makes a connection of the server to any device possible.
