As it is reported in several internet sources, Microsoft has announced, on July 22, about its plans to present the first beta version of the next operating system. The company informed that the name of the future OS would be Vista and it would be used instead of the code name Longhorn, which first appeared in 2001, when the software giant started the development of the next generation of its operating system. Microsoft promised to present the beta version of Vista on August 3, which is expected to be available for developers and technical audience.

Being the first beta version, the Vista will not surely look like the final operating system, however, it will feature the main key improvements and changes that Microsoft has implemented in it. The representatives of the Microsoft Corporation informed about the promotional motto of the Vista operating system, which will say: "Clear, Confident, Connected: Bringing clarity to your world". The new platform is to boost the overall working efficiency of the personal computers, for instance, it should increase the speed of the applications running by fifteen percent and the OS itself will start up and wake up from the sleep mode in a faster way.

Among the expected features of the Vista are the new tools and technologies for searching the files and data within the computer. The next version of the Microsoft operating system will also offer the so called virtual folders, containing the documents, matching certain criteria. For instance, the users will be able to see all the documents, marked as "created on Monday" or "downloaded from www.yahoomusic.com" in one folder, even if they are physically located in different folders.

Some of the improvements will be in the system set up and managing the personal computers, based on the Microsoft Windows Vista, to provide more stable and reliable work of the hardware.

The special set of features, expected in the Vista, concerns the home computers. The developers want to supply the next Windows with more strict and proven tools for the parental control and to expand the functionality of the new platform in home network surroundings.

The Microsoft Corporation was not too rich in opening the details of the next operating system. From time to time some portions of information appear in the Internet, however, it seems the company is constantly changing and reconfiguring its next OS, thus, the final version of the Vista will be quite far away from the initial beta version. Earlier, the company informed about the new web service architecture, called Indigo, the new file system WinFS, which were expected to be the part of the new operating system.

In any case, now, the whole IT community is inpatient in waiting for August 3, when the beta version will be available and the first reviews will appear. Meantime, the Microsoft Corporation plans to present the final version of the Vista next summer.
