How To Get Started In Internet Marketing And Why

Added: 06/04/2006

Since the industrial revolution we have been stuck with the mindset of trading time for money. We commute to a place of work, trade 8 hours of our time for a few dollars and commute home again. Some people think this is good and provides security. I think it sucks. Now the next revolution is with us in the form of the Internet. Grab the opportunity. Join the new revolution. The information revolution.

It actually started with the defeat of the Luddites at the hands, (or is that guns), of the British Army, Government and mill owners. It was the idea people, like you and me, would from hence forth trade time for money for survival. Back then, (the end of the 18th century) life in England changed dramatically from an agrarian and cottage industry lifestyle to one of working for survival in some form of factory or mine. The industrial revolution, dark, dismal, smelly, polluting and repressive had arrived.

Now I hate to break it to you folks but things haven't changed much. OK so the factory may be air-conditioned, we're only working 40 hrs a week instead of 80 and we don't send children to work down coal mines anymore, but we're still selling our time for money and our survival is dependent on that trade. If for any reason we stop selling our time, what happens - destitution?

Of course, some people actually like factory lifestyle. You know, work hard, climb up the corporate ladder, a few weeks holiday here and there at somewhere affordable, scrimp and save, pay the mortgage and then at the end of your life, (if you survive) superannuation and a pension you can't live on.

OK, so I paint a somewhat dismal picture and as I said, some people actually feel safe and comfortable with hours of commuting, a boss telling them what to do, a 9-5 salary and turn it into a joyful life. More power to them.

But if you are anything like me then you've come to realise there must be a better way and if there isn't I'm checking out right now and coming back as a pampered cat!

Mind you being the boss and starting your own business is not all it is cracked up to be either. Starting up a coffee shop, for example, requires a huge investment in time and money and could turn into a huge expensive flop! The same goes for a franchise.

So, short of winning the lottery or some other miracle occurring and I by no means discount any possibility, what alternatives are there?

A change that has occurred in all our lives that is every bit as dramatic as the industrial revolution, but not nearly as smelly, is the development of the Internet.

Anyone can now set up a virtually self-running internet marketing business with an investment of time and effort and very little money. It may, although not always, take some time but the rewards are worth it. Just imagine commuting every day from the bedroom to office via the breakfast room, a few hours making sure everything is on track and watch the bank account grow all by itself. Want a new car? Easy! Set up another marketing campaign!

And there is something extremely exciting about being able to work from anywhere in the world using nothing more than a computer and an Internet connection.

The internet gives ordinary people the chance to take control of their lives and shake off the legacy of the industrial revolution.

Sounds great, I hear you say, but how do I do it.

I'm glad you asked.

The first piece of advice I can offer is - don't try to re-invent the wheel.

Plenty of people have made a success of internet marketing before you, so it makes sense to copy what someone else has done. But who? You ask!
Good question.

Now the internet is full of 'gurus' who will want to sell their infallible system for making you a billionaire by next Tuesday! It will be automatic and require no effort!

Yeah right!

Actually there are some very good systems out there. It's just that you don't find out how good or mediocre they are till you've bought one.

The system that I recommend is exceptionally good and you don't have to pay for it. It was developed by a guy called Stone Evans who calls it the Plug In Profit Site or PIPS for short. He will build for you your very own fully equiped e-commerce website within 24 hours... for free!

He then takes you through a thirty-day step-by-step guide on how to be successful on the internet.

If you want the full details on this one go to http://www.nowisagoodtime.net/pips.html

The other resource I can recommend is his free e-book 'Dotcomology', which is a must read primer for anyone wanting to do business on the Internet and you can download your copy with my compliments at "http://www.nowisagoodtime.net/dotcomology.html".
