This company and this brand was actually invented and created by two youngsters in their small home backyard shed. Harley in the year of 1901. At that time, William Harley was 21 years of age and he has worked on this first invention with his friend Arthur Davidson and Arthur's brother Walter Davidson. The first motorcycle invented by Harley and Davidson was a 7.07 cubic inches machine, which had four-inch flywheels. However, later on, Harley Davidson motorcycle company became famous for its motorcycles equipped with V-Twin engines, which make very particular and loud noise. First Harley Davidson motorcycle model, which became the prototype of its famous V-Twins was a model of 1907. This motorcycle was a vehicle with 45-degree V-Twin engine. It got exposed on the
Chicago Automobile Show, though, only few motorcycles of this type were manufactured by the company during the 1907-1910 years.The year of 1906 was the turning point for Harley Davidson motorcycle company, because during that year Harley and his friends have purchased their first business location, which remains company's main headquarter till this day. This first company's business and manufacturing facility was situated on Juneau Avenue, in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For, till this year Harley and Davidson were able to manufacture and sell no more than a dozen of their motorcycles. Though, with the acquisition of a factory, Harley Davidson motorcycle company was able to manufacture and sell over 50 vehicles during the year 1906. Another milestone in the history of Harley Davidson motorcycle company was their actual legal incorporation. It has happened in September of 1907. In fact, during that year Harley Davidson motorcycle company was able to manufacture about 150 vehicles. However, during the years 1908 and 1909 the production has immensely grown. For during the year 1908 the company has manufactured over 450 vehicles, while in the year 1909 it has produced over 1100 motorcycles. So, we can see the rapid and valid business progression over some 3 years. For, in the 1906 Harley Davidson motorcycle company has manufactured only some 12 vehicles. Thus, from a very humble beginning a rather strong and leading business has grown up.
