Espn motion: "Half Television, Half Internet"

ESPN (formerly an initialism for the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is an American cable television network dedicated to broadcasting sports-related programming 24 hours a day. It was founded by Scott Rasmussen and his father Bill Rasmussen, and launched on September 7, 1979 under the direction of Chet Simmons, who was the network's first President and CEO. The current president, since November 19, 1998, of ESPN is George Bodenheimer. ESPN is available in over 90 million homes in the United States and over 147 countries and territories via ESPN International. The name of the sport company was lengthened to "ESPN Inc." in February 1985. Espn motion is the part of ESPN family of networks from 2003 who also includes espn2, espnews, espn classic, espn deportes, espn 360, espn plus, espn ppv, espn radio, etc.
Espn.com is the website of ESPN featuring real-time game scores, polls, contests, statistics and news for every sport, the weekly E-Ticket, Page2 (and formerly Page3 until 2005) and probably its most famous branch, SportsNation, "The Show". This is also where most of the polls are, and quizzes, along with a branch that showcases what is coming up soon on ESPNEWS. Espn.com also offers a full range of Fantasy Games. Later ESPN has redesigned their homepage and added a new feature titled "ESPN Motion" which calls itself  "Half Television, Half Internet." ESPN Motion delivers highlights, news, and analysis from all major sports. Espn motion is an application users can download for free. Multiple times per day, new sports video content is downloaded to the user's computer. When the new video content is fully loaded, an icon appears in the user's system tray alerting him the latest sports highlights and news are just a click away. Because the video loads in the background, as opposed to streams, quality is exceptional. Espn motion provides espn.com visitors with crystal-clear instant-on video right inside the espn.com front page, without streaming. Every time new espn motion video is published out to the company's servers, an espn motion component on a user's computer automatically goes out and fetches the newest video and stores it in a temporary location on his hard drive. When a new video has been downloaded and is ready to view, the user sees a blue 'E' icon in the right side of his Windows taskbar, which the viewer can click on, or just visit the front page of espn.com and the espn motion video will start playing automatically. The technology has caught the attention of the online advertising industry. In eighteen months, espn motion has generated over three million downloads. There are over two million unique espn motion users each month, and they watch millions of videos a day. Most of those users are, males ages eighteen-thirty four. It really works because there are a ton of sports junkies who can't wait to get their eyeballs on the latest highlights, scores, and news. ESPN's TV channels are a built-in content factory. On top of that, the video quality on the computer screen is such they want to keep watching. ESPN has done a really nice job of integrating the more advanced features with the more mundane. Espn motion is a good example for "more is more". There aren't any standards here and they've decided to push the envelope. It is not only does work it works very well. They obviously know their target audience and went after them lock, stock and barrel with out, any real downside. ESPN team consists of professional sport commentators, announcers and analysts. Media analyst espn provides commentaries and analysis for ESPN International's coverage of numerous Championship Leagues, covers international games, including World Cup qualifiers. ESPN Motion is the only place to see ESPN.com original fare like The Sports Guy cartoon and Off-Mikes.
